I'm currently on a Diazepam taper (Started at 30mg per day cutting by 5 mg every 2weeks so Im now at 20mg) I see my G.P again on Thursday so I forsee another 5mg reduction which will take me to 15mg Diazepam per day) Now to some they may seem like low/moderate doses, but in the past I was shovelling thousands of milligrams down my neck every weekend and then going cold turkey, which I did many times up until my last cold turkey in September which ended with a 6 day stay in hospital where they began the 30mg Diazepam taper along with a dose of pregablin (300mg I think?) Which then increased upto 600mg.
I've now been on this combo for around 6 weeks. I plan to go travelling around 22nd November. In that time I plan to taper the best I can so that I can go away medicine free! I have roughly 3 weeks to do it. Any advice? By my reckoning I will be down to around 5mg Diazepam per day by then which I have no problem jumping off as I have jumped off thousands of milligrams of Diazepam/Temazepam and hundreds of milligrams of Alprazolam in the past.
My only concern is the Pregablin (Lyrica) How do I go about tapering this? I currently have to take a 300mg capsule twice a day, on Thursda I shall notify my G.P of my plans and hopefully she will be spportive and hopefully prescribe me smaller dose Pregablin (I know they come in 75mg capsules etc and Diazepam comes in 2 mg tabs which can be split in half to make 1mg)
I was meant to have left for my travels on 1st October but due to my severe Benzo withdrawal illness them plans were scuppered.
