Quitting opiates question please help!

Hey guys, I am set on quitting opiates, but have a concern, I have to go somewhere 2 times a week and was wondering if I'm going to be going through wds and sick, I still need to be there so would using the smallest amount just so I can show up affect the amount of time the wds would be?

What are you taking and what's the usual dosage? Also depends how long you have been taking them. Is this your first attempt to quit or have you been through withdrawals before? All these things can affect how you will feel when it's time to discontinue the meds.

I have been using h and oxycodone daily, a little less than a bun a day doing it twice a day and a lot of Oxy when I don't have the other which rarely happens, and I was using for a while before I quit before and picked back up about 4 months ago or so but before That I had used a lot longer

Any amount of opiate cessation is going to cause discomfort. I would imagine even those on 5mg of oxycodone by mouth per day still feel some kind of withdrawal, they may not think its a drug addiction/withdrawal thing happening and most likely think they are tired or moody. You will most likely not be 100% for a period of 5 days but how "not 100%" you are depends on your past.

Unfortunately no one will be able to give you an answer like "half a bag every 4 hours will do" it is something you will have to figure out for yourself. Depending on how you use you may want to consider doing an amount like 1/4 of a bag or whatever and waiting 30 mins to see how you feel. The only way to develop the "lowest possible dose" for yourself is to titrate the dose yourself by slowing increasing the dose until you feel ok.

You could look into recovery type drugs because of their longer half life they work better for this. That is the reason recovery programs use the compounds they do their longer half lives mean that you even dose less so once you get the lowest active dose you only need to dose once a day which further makes life easy on the patient.

If you do not have that option loperamide may help you. But all of this is experimenting you have to do because as TC said its all so personal to you that any recommendation from anyone should be taken as advise and not law.

Sorry I think I worded the op wrong I am not trying to ween off it I am going cold turkey, I just would like to know if when I have my appointments and use just before those 2 appts in the week will that affect the overall wd time

Unfortunately it will affect the overall detox period. Ideally you should cold turkey after the appointments but if that's not an option, I would recommend just doing a half dose for each one. The WD length will get reset but will be less intense.

Ya it would prolong the wd but you gotta do what you gotta do. If you have the willpower to really only use lightly those 2 days it will eventually subside to where you won't really need to use at all. I could never do that. God knows I've tried. Xanax helps a lot. Or any of those non opioid withdrawal comforts meds (clonidine, robaxin, vistatil, neurontin, etc.) may enable you to just go cold turkey

I do have the willpower, thank you all for the support. Recently I have lost someone close to me to an od and it's starting to cost way too much to the point where it's not worth it anymore and a lot of the time it's just to feel normal so I know what I have to do and am just going to put up with the wds till I'm in the clear. I've been thinking about what I've been doing for awhile and what it would do to the people around me if I where to pass away from it. Thanks for all the replys, these few days are going to suck but it will be worth it in the long run. I just want to get my life back on track and just feel normal again.
