Benzos Quitting Benzos and drinking alcohol

I have been getting dangerously close to a physical benzo addiction, xanax for the most part. Over the past month I have done it everyday, and the month before that, roughly 3x a week. For the first month I was able to take couple day breaks in between. I have been using the same dose each time, 1mg once a day at night when I drink liquor.
I have also been on suboxone (8mg a day) and drinking at least a pint of vodka a day for about 3 years now.

I was addicted to IV heroin 4 years ago, but quit that and switched addictions to suboxone/alcohol. Never went back to heroin or opiates other than suboxone, and up until now, didn't really mess with other drugs.

I need to stop the benzos.
Today will be my first night without any xanax.

I also must state that I have no intention of stopping or slowing down my drinking habit.

I know alcohol and benzos affect the same parts of the brain. My question is, will I withdraw from this use? Will I be fine since I am continuing drinking? Possibly drinking more than normal to overcome wanting to get benzos.
I am not sure if my alcoholism will cancel out withdraw symptoms from my small beginning of a habit, but I am not sure and do not have expierance with this.

I also have a prescription of gabapentin to prevent seizures if need be.

Does anyone have experience with this at all?

Should I take the gabapentin to prevent seizure risk? Or will alcohol be enough to prevent that?
