Quick Tagamet question

Tonight I'm using some Tagamet to potentate my opiates. I'm wondering how much is safe to take (it says to not exceed 400mg in 24hrs) and general thoughts/opinions on using this stuff to potentate opiates.

400 mgs is sufficient, however, I usually take ~800mgs 45 - 60 minutes before taking my opioid. It's pretty much been only methadone for the past couple of years but I can say that cimetidine truly does potentiate. It seems to be more effective with certain opioids and less so with others. I wouldn't make a habit out of it though as you'll become tolerant to the effects and you will have essentially just raised your dose.

Has this high dose ever given you stomache trouble? I was afraid to go over the limit on the box. Also you mentioned it working better or worse depending on the opiate, so in your experience how has it worked with hydrocodone?
