I've been abusing sleeping pills for awhile now. The strangest thing happened last night, though. Thursday morning, I took fourteen 25mg pills, equal to seven 50mg, which is what I normally take. They kicked in about a half hour after I took them. I went to school, and I was messed up for just a few hours, up until lunch time. My pupils were still dilated and I was still shaking, but the high was gone and I didn't feel out of it anymore. Friday night, I took sixteen 25mg pills, equal to eight 50mg. Normally when I take diphenhydramine, I take about twenty five 50mg pills. I know how terrible it feels to be that messed up, so I thought maybe I should just not take as many. When I took the pills last night, they never kicked in. I waited for three hours and I didn't feel a single thing. Can anyone tell me why this would happen, even though I got messed up off a fewer amount of pills the day before? Thank you.

Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine and also used to help with sleep. I'm guessing since you're used to taking so many, it did not affect you so much last night. When you took them at school, you had to stay awake. I would stop using them so much, that's my advice.

Yeah, but I stay awake at night too. It's weird because they never ever kicked in... That's all. I would have at least felt SOMETHING. But hey, thanks for the advice.

I could take a thousand and not feel anything. I mean it's an OTC sleep aide, not a prescription sleeping pill. Not surprising that it would occasionally not work or stop working completely. It's really more bad for you than anything.

How old are you? I in no way want to encourage you getting into drugs but can't you just smoke pot like most kids in high school?

ETA: Tolerance is normal and occurs when you use a lot of anything, even a mild sleep aide.
