Quick question: is PARAMOL (dihydrocodeine/apap) gonna make a comeback?

There was a thread abou this late last year. I haven't had any (otc) in months upon months, at my favourite otc opiates pharmacy the chemist said there was a problem with supply or something like that & no it's not been banned or taken off the shelves for good.

That was 2 months ago & still there is no sign of it :( Even boots did a <well known chemist> brand 24 pack of DHC/apap, but that is gone too!

Anybody seen it lately or know what the situation is with it?

I was told by my local <well known chemist> that basically a new company has taken over who did it before and they need to apply for relevant licences to produce it.

Either way it feckin sucks,going cold turkey with a couple of 12.8mg codeines a day is a drag!
Codiene linctus is nowhere to be found nowadays either :S

Ah, well my friend look around the independent pharmacys because as it happens i just picked up a bottle of codeine linctus today!

Thing is with codeine linctus is most chain-pharmacys only stock it for prescriptions. Some places that do sell it without prescription will lie & say it's prescription only. Some pharmacys assistants, not the chemist, actually think it is presciption only.

The place i got it from today is an independant one behind a 5 star hotel, many times i've been in there & an old bag has said 'sorry dont sell it', but since it's my local ive been going to for a couple years ive struck up a good rapport with the Pharmacist himself. Even he tried to push pholcodeine, but i said, truthfully, even though i dont have a cough at the moment, that when i dry cough so bad it wakes me up in the night, phocodeine does not work. Then he tried to sell me robitussin & again i said truthfully that dextrometorphan (DXM) makes me nauseous, then he suggested pulmo baily & i said 'well that's basically the same thing only in a smaller bottle & more expensive, so i'd like the codeine linctus please' & he sold it to me.

Back on topic i bloody well hope DHC/apap meds make a comeback as now i'm on methadone my doctor wont give me a script for opiates anymore & since i do have legit chronic pain i oft need a "breakthough" analgesic. But i don't deny i like to push the envelope & take a recreational dose. But even when i am only using codeine/dihydrocodeine for breakthrough pain i still do a cwe on 16 tabs to get over 100 mg worth of opiate, often mixed with ibuprofen 600 mg & amitriptyline 25 mg.

Effie: You didn't quite manage to edit the chemist name out. ;)

Codeine linctus is all over the place - independent chemists usually have it.
 
I think you can get stuff with it in from chemists, yeah. Can't remember brand name off-hand but I did have some around summer last year.

I had 30mg dihydrocodeine tabs the other day, but they'd been prescribed to my mate who said they made her 'feel all funny' and gave em to me.

Yeah, however the supermarket own-brand is yet to make a reappearance. I don't trust Paramol CWE due to the titanium dioxide making the filtrate opaque. I get liver pains after two beers so I really don't want to be fucking around with paracetamol.
 
There used to be a UK-based online pharmacy that sold pure DHC pills (DFs) without prescription not so long back. Weren't cheap but was rather nice to be able to acquire DHC in pure form with next day delivery. Unfortunately, some spoilsport apparently went and informed them of the law of the land.

Damn citizens and their 'laws'.
Shame I missed out on the fun, I'm having to pay the exorbitant fees for online linctus due to spamming the local pharmacies.
