His family would love you for using the word multiple. It's the best euphemism in his case. I would use "an arsenal".

I think they do still prescribe demerol but rarely due to the high potential of life threatening side effects it has.

it has unique effects in comparison to other opiates, such as seizures and is said to be neurotoxic, and no more efficient at analgesia than morphine.

In Poland it's now only used in hospitals and can't be bought. Would be interesting to try
