Quick Question: Can I Take 1 Percocet right after taking 1 Oxycontin?

i just got my script for oxycontin (20mg) and percocet (5mg / 325mg).. now i believe i remember my doc saying that i can take percocet for 'breakthrough' pain while on the oxycontin, but i just want to make sure..

theres nothing wrong with taking one of each together right?

Absolutely not. In fact, that's the point of breakthrough pain medication. Pain that "breakthrough" your normal painkiller, in your case OP 20mg.

Don't get in the habit of taking them both at the same time, however. I would not take the Percocet unless you really do have breakthrough pain. You're just chasing a buzz, don't go down that path. Your opiate tolerance must be low at this point and if you don't abuse it recreationally -- it will help your life out in the long run.

its not that im chasing a high, i have avascular nercrosis in both my knees.. i took my oxycontin at about 9:30am, i just got off work about 9pm and my knees are absolutely killing me.. i just took the oxy about 20 min ago, and was just wondering if i could take the both the IR + ER, so i can have relief immediately and have a long-lasting relief from the long-acting..

ok its been almost 2 hours, and i have barely any improvement in my knees - i think its time to take 1 percocet
