okay so basically i took 1500mg of tylenol earlier today around 12 noon, and i just took 4000mg more of tylenol (lortabs) but i had forgotten i took the others earlier. i know that 4000mg is the 24hr maximum, but do i have to worry about the tylenol earlier hurting me? or is it mostly already out of my body? i read half life is 4-6 hours but i wasnt exactly sure.

Unless you take APAP often in excessive doses and/or drink a lot regularly, taking 5.5grams in one day should be fine.

4 grams is what the FDA says is safe to take everyday, exceeding that by about 40% once most likely won't cause demonstrable damage.

If you start to feel ill seek medical attention and if you want to be sure, in the next few days or so get some liver function tests.

Unless you already have damage/stress your liver excessively all the time, you shouldn't have to worry.

Lastly, 4 grams/day is acceptable when spaced out. Don't exceed 2 grams in a single dose.

I'm just saying some of that is just wrong. The FDA may have said 4 grams a day is OK but tons of people would end up with liver cancer from doing that too long. Just saying it so people don't go without a CWE on 4 grams a day of their APAP filled pills or something.

Yes to the CWE!

^you're right.

I'm not claiming 4grams a day indefinitely is completely safe, just that its been approved by the FDA (so take that FWIW) and that acutely taking 5.5 grams in 24 hours is *unlikely* to be dangerous.

I've taken like 6g's at once if it makes you feel better. I was fine.

You should be fine. Dont do this often though as it is very harmful to your liver.
