Quick question about oxycontin - crush or just swallow whole?

I was recently prescribed 20MG OxyContin due to chronic back pain, sometimes the pain gets so severe it's unbearable. They are 20MG OP, I was wondering would it be best for me to chew the pill before swallowing it? or should I just take it whole? However, if I do chew it will the pain relief not last as long as if I were to just swallow it whole?

I would rather one pill last me as long as possible so I do not have to constantly take pills all day long.
What are your suggestions?

Any help and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Taking the one 20mg pill will last you the longest re: pain relief.

Crushing or chopping it will equal four perc's, but will only last half as long.
