Quick question about crack pipe and the way the resin looks

What does your resin look like (in a brillo/glass tube) after smoking?
I noticed that it almost always makes either 1)concentric circle patterns or 2)many spirals/swirls
And its white, but towards the other end seems to look like brown oil.

What would cause it to do this? (like the science of it)

I don't know it looked like a light caramel color I think... Like golden brown. It only turned a darker shade of brown if we tried to smoke more of it even though it was done (so we burned it).
