Hey so I've been reading here for years, and had a question.

Some background first: Been using heroin on/off for 4 years. Have kicked suboxone twice successfully, once after 2 months of use starting at 16mg, and once after only 10 days of use starting at 8mg.

I'm once again about to jump off these lime-flavored bastards, but have never done a detox like this. So basically, I had only been using hard opiates for 3 weeks, and had 16mg of suboxone to use to attempt to minimize my withdrawals. The schedule I've used was 6mg first day (felt crappy, despite decent dosage), 4mg second day (felt about same as first day), 2mg third day (felt a bit better), 2mg 4th day (felt 100%), 2mg fifth day (felt 100%) which is today, and is also the end of my suboxone supply. Every day throughout I have woken up with a sour stomach and body aches, but today and on day 4 they immediately receded after taking my dose of suboxone. I have taken the 2mg dose at the same time (7am) for all three of the days at that level. My question is, how bad do you think I'm going to kick? And how for how long? I realize I'm jumping off at a pretty high dose, but with a 5 day duration, do you think I've built up enough to really have a terrible crash out?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

36 hrs since last dose of suboxone. Minimal withdrawals noticed. Sour stomach and lack of motivation, easily remedied with loperamide (8mg taken throughout the day) and caffeine (2 180mg doses of caffeine, spaced by 6 hrs). I'll post with more details in another 36. Taking 100mg Doxepin an hour before bed for sleep, and gets me a solid 8 hours. Getting off these things is all in your mind. If you think you can, then you can. If you have reservations, I feel your mind will defeat you. For anybody reading this with plans of jumping off or currently jumping off, it's only as bad as you make it. Positive mental attitude is everything.

Tell someone jumping off 2mg Suboxone after years it's all in their mind and I guarantee you'll get your ass kicked. Or maybe you won't because they're so fucking sick. You had a short stint and did a rapid Suboxone taper. You got out easy. Good work.

dude you were only using for three weeks... just go few an unpleasant week. while a positive mental attitude can help loads, it's not fair to compare your experience to those of people who have to kick heavy habits that have been going for years. not even in the same ballpark

but good luck, hope things go well. congratulations on cleaning up

My bad, I wasn't trying to talk shit on people who have been on long term maintenance, I was trying to offer some potentially helpful words to those going through it.

And obviously a 5 day suboxone taper after 3 weeks of use isn't equivalent to detoxing after years of use, I never said it would be.

However just for information purposes (If anybody in internetland is researching), I was using about a gram a day via the foil. This taper has worked super well for me. Days 1 and 2 were far more unpleasant than my first day off so far.

Subs are the most difficult but you made it to day three. Day four than five than six. There's a saying where it came from I don't know but it takes 21 days to break a bad habit. Keep a strong spine "Riddick".
