Opioids Quick CWE harm reduction question!

Hi guys,

I know there is a lot of info about CWE on here but I couldnt find anything specific to my question.

A friend of mine likes to CWE panadene extra (500mg apap, 15mg codeine) he usually does about 27 (405mg codeine) at a time. He usually disolves the pills in about 70ml of water. He would like to try doing the same mixture but instead in 150ml of water. My question is, is it possible that 70ml of water was too little amount for the full amount of codeine to be disolved and should he go down in dose if he decides to to use 150ml of water.

According to the codeine FAQ on Erowid a gram of codeine is soluble in 0.7mL's of water at 21 degrees Celsius.

I use a similar formulation as your friend does when I make a CWE, just not that exact brand, I tend to use 100mL of water to dissolve 40 tablets/600mg codeine.

From a harm reduction point of view the less water one can get away with using the better, this is due to the fact that the entire active dose of codeine is soluble in a very small quantity of water, using increasing amount of water will mean you end up with more paracetamol/APAP in your CWE solution. Going by Erowids codeine FAQ again though, only one gram of paracetamol should be soluble in 150mL of water at 21 degrees Celsius, so as long as the end result is clear they should not have any issues consuming it.
 
You guys in other countries are lucky to get codeine OTC.The best we can do in the US is a codeine cough syrup called Dyhistine that you have to present a current drivers license from the state you are in and sign for it.You can only buy it every 10 days and it's hard as hell finding a pharmacy that even stocks it.And they tend to look at you like you asked them for morphine.In my home town there were only 4 pharmacies in the whole area that sold it and they were spread out in 2 different cities.It was a pain in the ass to get but my gf and I always tried keeping a bottle on hand for emergencies.Codeine isn't anything spectacular but it's certainly better than nothing if you're dope sick.I think I need to find a new country lol.I swear America must be the only country that doesn't have OTC medicines containing codeine.So can you guys just go to a drug store and buy as much as you want or is there a limit on what they let you get and make you sign for it etc..?
