1) How likely is one to black out when using this drug, when taking a therapeutic dose? A neurology textbook I own says that "of all the benzodiazepine hypnotics, it produces, by far, the greatest degree of memory impairment and episodes of anterograde amnesia".

2) What's a good starting dose for this drug? 0.25 milligrams?

^^ yeah, 0.25 ought to knock you out nicely, for an hour maybe two. Very sorry half life, rebound anxiety may develop with repeated use. Not very recreational. Amnesia, not so much as Midazolam, but as with most benzos, esp., potent ones like triazolam induce retrograde amnesia. Some people more than others have issues with memory when using benzos. A good reason to only use them therapeutically.

Of course everyone is different but I have found the opposite to be true.
Triazolam is the only benzo I find pleasurable, 0.25mg dose comes on with a strong feeling of relief, calm and relaxation.
I haven't found it to cause any memory problems when used in moderation.

short duration in my opinion is a plus.
Depends what you are looking for I suppose.
