So I have a script of opana 5 mg IR from roxxane that I would like to make into a nasal spray so that it will be more effective rather than just breaking it down and putting that up my nose. Here is what I am planning to do.
1. Mix about x mg into a water solution of about y ml until dissolved. Warm if it does not dissolve enough
2. Backload a oral syringe with cotton in the bottom to filter out fillers to a degree
4. Put the filtered solution into a nasal spray bottle that has been emptied and washed
I am guessing it will work fine, but my only concern is will the oxymorphone degrade in the water solution? I know heroin converts back into morphine if left in water, but I do not know if this really applies to oxymorphone.
Would it be necessarily to store it within my fridge or should room temp be fine?
I also have qualitative 101 filter paper disk that is for "Coarse and Gelatinous precipitates", but it does not state the micron filter rating and I can not find the brand info online anywhere. Would this be a better idea to use for filtering out the filler? Also would anyone possibly know what the micron filter rating may be or is it different per brand?
Thanks for any help given and I will be researching this on my own as I wait for answers here as well.
Edit: I need to work out my ratios, but I want it to be closer to 0.5-1 mg per 0.1 ml. It will take me some time to figure out... I think 25 mg to 10 ml is a good starting ratio. If there are any suggestions let me know.
Edit 2: Comment below was not that helpful... I am sure it will work, but the question is if there is any worry about it degrading... I also said "warm" it if it did not dissolve and that would be in a warm tap water bath, which is not even all that warm. Plus... I know how to back load a syringe that's why I mentioned it in my steps. What I am curious in terms of degrading is will it break down into morphine or a weaker opiate in water like heroin does by converting back to morphine.
Also filtering out the filler is a must as I need to make sure that the solution is as concentrated as possible and the filler will take up un-needed space... As well as be unhealthy to keep in the solution.
For reference sake the exact maximum solubility of oxymorphone in water is 1 gram to 4 ml.
Now please.. Only post if you can really answer my questions. I do not need reassurance it works, but someone with chemistry knowledge to answer my questions while the last requires someone who has lab experience. If you do not feel this describes you please do not answer as I do not want a thread filled with confirmations this will work as it is unconfirmed really and comments saying that will only convince others to try something that may not work well.... Especially telling people to leave in harmful filler when it could easily be filtered out. The sterile cotton swab is a good rec, but kind of overkill IMO. Now I will still be researching and waiting for a clear answer to my questions.
