Crazy that the doctor actually encouraged you to go use if necessary

It’s bizarre, right? Every single rehab facility or mental health/addiction specialist I have dealt with has always recommended the same thing. I used to take advantage of that hardcore, as it would just be a valid excuse to get free money from family to go out in a blaze of glory or refuse to go. Sigh.. the insanity I put my wife and family through.

With that said, 40 to 50 bags is a lot so I’m definitely not surprised the doctor said that. There has to be a risk to reward issue with protocol for starting doses for new patients and the realities of severe withdrawals in outpatient setting has more risk to the patient than continuing to use until dose is able to be increased sufficiently.

If you are doing American dope then those bundles you were using were most likely fentanyl. 30mg of methadone won't put a big dent in that. Fentanyl withdrawal is next level.

Methadone works, stick with it.

Ya the drug test came back with fentanyl in it so I knew and the doctor knew it wasn't going to pretty much anything that's why he said to continue to use if I needed to for the first week or so but I'm definitely not giving up I will stick with it because however long it takes I know it will eventually work

Ya it is a lot and truthfully if this Covid-19 thing didn't happen and I didn't have to wait months for my unemployment which means I ended up getting A LOT of money all at once I don't think my habit would of went up that much I never did more then a bundle maybe 2 in a day but then I got a huge chunk of money and it was off to the races. Either way I'm not giving up I know it will work at some point I just have to stick it out until I reach that point

You seem to be way ahead of the rehab facilities where I’m located. There hasn’t been heroin around for years and the rehabs still don’t test for fentanyl, so everyone tests negative while using the entire time. Still haven’t figured out how or why they haven’t straightened that out yet, but I digress.
