Questions about magic mushrooms-first time

You need to be able to accept what comes to you, and make the best of it. Do you want change?

I want to see what comes to me and to grow. A major reason I'm interested in psychedelics is because of how it can change you and unlock parts of you that you need to understand. So I think I will be able to accept whatever it is, even if I might not like what I see.
 
On the age subject - I think it's a personal thing. Using mushrooms at such an early age has anything but stunted my development. I have grown vastly as a human being, and have been altered in many positive ways. I think it's up to you, but I've got nothing but good things to say about mushroom's long term effects, even at an early age.

You'd be doing that anyway at your age, don't give the psychedelics all the credit.
 
Is it critical that you're doing it with really close friends? The girl I'm planning on tripping with is a friend, but not one of my best friends. And she wants to have her boyfriend there as well as the other guy who I mentioned is sitting sober. But I've never met her boyfriend so I'm not sure how comfortable that would be. Do you think that's a bad idea to have him there too?
 
Also, is it more likely to have a bad trip if you have anxiety? I used to have a very mild form of OCD, and I've always had some mild anxiety problems. But I still really want to try shrooms... I just thought of that though and I want to know what you all think.

I did 4 grams the first time, and I'm glad I did that much. It kicked my ass, but I'm glad. One of the most mentally beneficial things I've ever done.

Yes if you're naturally anxious then there's a better chance you'll freak out. Just try to tell yourself it's the shrooms and calm down.
And if you get bad stomach pains / vomiting within the first few hours, just know that happens too. Or you can make it into a tea and avoid all that.

It's not a waste, it's called being smart and not starting with a stupidly strong dose considering every batch of shrooms will have varying potencies, and the OP doesn't know how they'll handle a proper trip since they've never had one before.

My first time with shrooms I thought I could handle 5g because I'd been fine (and enjoyed) dosing 10+ tabs of LSD. It was the worst experience I've ever had on hallucinogens and all I wanted the whole time was for it to end.
 
Are you on any meds? You might want to check out if they'll fuck with your trip

Nope no meds, so I don't have to worry bout that. I just thought maybe it'd be more likely for me to have a bad trip since I've had anxiety problems in the past.

I'm no expert, but to be perfectly frank, having anxiety problems will probably increase your chances of having an anxiety attack/bad trip. Doesn't mean it's definitely going to happen though, just make sure you're in a good state going into it. You should try meditating for a couple minutes before taking them, and then meditate after taking them before it kicks in (it should take like 15-20 mins to kick in on an empty stomach)
 
might be worth consuming a small amount of ginger before you trip to negate any possible nausea you might experience from digesting the shrooms, i've found ginger to be incredibly successful in combating nausea on any drugs

Everyone keeps saying to be in a good state. But I don't know how to really guarantee that. And how would you suggest meditating?

I'd suggest starting with 1 or 2g and if it doesn't get you where you want to be, try again in a couple of weeks with more. It's much better to be underwhelmed than overwhelmed and possibly put yourself off hallucinogens. With higher doses you have a higher chance of inducing anxiety.

I had just moved states and wasn't in a place where I had a comfort zone and I had a panic attack when coming up on the shrooms. That combined with the nausea left me purging for the first 3 hours of the trip and then had me feeling extremely sore and sorry for myself. Even with cannabis I couldn't get control of the anxiety and had constant inner-voice telling me I was worthless and reminding me what I'd left behind when I moved and why I moved. It just continued getting worse until I took Seroquel to knock me out so I could sleep.

Meditation helps to get your mind calm. Set and setting is a huge part of tripping, basically being somewhere you feel comfortable, with a positive mind and positive vibes around you. If you have to hide from people it's probably not the best environment.

So what should I do? Tell her not to bring her boyfriend? I don't feel good doing that.

It should be ok with her boyfriend, just be aware that if you don't feel comfortable around him, or if you get bad vibes from him, then you may want to reconsider taking shrooms that night. There will always be other times.

Benzos are what most people would suggest and they work well at quelling anxiety, I didn't have any that night though. Cannabis works for some but it can cause more anxiety in others. If you're prone to anxiety when smoking I wouldn't recommend it.

Calming breaths and clearing your mind of bad thoughts will be good. The idea is to get yourself in a positive mindset so that you're not dwelling on anything when you go into the trip.

Enjoy yourself, it's an experience and sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.
