Questions about insufflation

Okay. I do all of my meds intranasally. I use opana, it's the best way to use it (other than IV, which I just won't do). However, I've been on this habit so long and so often, my nose is damaged badly. I can tell the lining on my nose is worn down, it's sensitive, I always feel like my nose is plugged up, and worst of all: my opana just doesn't work for me anymore.

Sure, with a habit like mine I knew I would build a tolerance. But I'm snorting 20-40mg at a time with no buzz at all! I almost feel like my nose just isn't absorbing anything anymore...

So, does anyone know how to make the snorting experience better? Any supplements/tricks that will put the punch back into my doses? And does anyone know how I can let my nose heal up a little bit? I know obviously stopping for a bit or cutting down, but then I face withdrawals. Any advice is great. Thanks!

You will have to stop snorting for some time and start eating them just chew it up in your mouth or hold it under your tounge and let it drip back down your throat it will trick you into thinking its the drip from snorting one. I know the bioavailability is so much lower but you can treally repair your nose while snorting and you don't want to smoke or IV then so I don't see another option

You can try all the natural remedies you want or medicine but if you keep snorting it won't heal you need to give it a chance.

I won't try IVing, people would notice the marks in my arm. And I'm too afraid to get hooked more than I am. I would smoke them. I did not know opana could be successfully smoked

Plugging Opana works better than snorting it, so you have an easy if unattractive alternative.

The nose is shockingly hardy, however. I snorted 16mg of subs (tons of powder) a day for two years in my late teens, then used lower amounts nasally daily for an additional 5 years and suffered no serious problems. When I snorted the larger amounts, however, I did get a few nose infections and sometimes had trouble smelling/tasting - which really annoyed me.

Plugging is a great way to save & use your meds but I just can't do it......would be great for all these pills except oxycodone & hydrocodone.

I didn't see if you were doing the hard plastic ones or the newer generics that into powder. I wouldn't fool with the plastic ones up the nose for long but the generic can be done with little trouble but don't do too much at one time. Make sure what you can do will get back up there and not clog you up. I have a few tricks to clear your nose when it's plugged up if you're interested?

Yeah I would be interested. And if I can get the ER ones I grind them to a fine powder with a power tool in an enclosed area (so none goes flying) and they work but if I do a lot they gel and plug me up bad. You're right, the IR ones are fine with me

I would start flushing with saline, via nasal sprayer or neti-pot. That'll keep your sinuses clean. I personally dislike the pharmacy crap, so I make my own. If you're insufflating fine powders, I'd recommend looking at this thread, or possibly this one. That'll keep your lungs clean.

Do you do this to the newer plastic ones or are you talking about the newer generic ones? Probably the brand plastic ones because I can use a credit card and knock an entire pill to a pile of dust in seconds, no power tool needed. If you ever have the option, I'd definitely opt for the generics. I think they work better for my pain as well and I've never said that about generics!

Without a doubt the generics kick ass! But unfortunately without a prescription I have to settle for what's available at the time...
