Questions about Ambien

I'm curious as to what part of ambien works as a pain reliever? Somewhere down the line I snorted it, and I noticed how it gave me energy and took away any pain. Is that because it disassociates me from the pain...or?
Also, After about a year of using it off and on, I no longer get a euphoria off of it or anything close to a 'good' high, but instead the best way I can describe it is a 'dirty' high. I feel awful/just...wrong. I thought maybe a tolerance so I upped it a little, and just made it worse. Is that a tolerance issue? Or is that just another side effect of long term use?

Lastly, I've noticed when I'm on it, it works better than my benzos for my anxiety. (i,e; valium, clonapin) Does anyone else have this experience?
Thank you for your time.

Please don't blatantly bump your thread like that as it is against forum guidelines. If something slips through at least add a little info or update of some kind :)

As for your question zolipdem is a poor choice for a pain killer. It probably mostly helps in making you forget that you hurt all night long as you remember nothing after taking it haha, but also it binds to certain gaba (an inhibitory neurotransmitter) receptors in your brain which I suppose you could say deadens your perception to all stimuli including pain. Then again I remember reading that zolipdem was an extremely poor anxiolytic and muscle relaxant due to selective binding so I can't explain your response via common responses so long as you aren't tolerant to benzos.

Hopefully that answers your question and if you are looking for more info check out gamma-aminobutyric acid on wikipedia.
