I am aware it is illogical and probably impossible for e to drain fluid from the spinal cord, but that is not what i am asking here.

Ok so not only the brain but the spinal cord is part of the CNS and both contain nerve cells that communicate with neurotransmitters. So Because there are serotonin releasing neurons in the spinal cord, isnt it possible for e to release or in some way effect serotonin in this region?

Just a guess from my basic understanding of how everything works, but I see it as entirely possible that it effects serotonin in that region. However, I am not sure if what you are asking, is if it could negatively effect it or not.

Are you asking if the spinal fluid would possibly decrease when the serotonin exits?

I am in no way an expert in neurology, and the 5-HT system is not the one that interests me the most. However, I can say that, indeed - there are 5-HT receptors (not sure which subtypes) in the spinal chord, and that MDMA does indeed have affinity to some of them.

However (and correct me if I'm wrong), the neurons (and hence, the receptors they express) in the spine and lower brain are generally more responsible to the transmission of sensory and motor data rather than processing it - how that is effected depends on which receptors you are refering to on which neurons.

In other words, I don't think there is a clear-cut answer to the very general question of "how does MDMA affect the spinal chord".

Hopefully someone more knowledgable than I can shed more light on this.

thnx guys, just wondering cuz to me this could potentially explain the back pain/problems some people get from e.

I think it's much more likely the back pain is caused by muscle tension due to the stimulant effects, and possibly things like dancing.

MDMA releases serotonin in the spinal cord.

And there's actually quite a large amount of processing that goes on in the spinal cord.

Sorry if I wasnt clear. I didn't mean that there is absolutely no processing in the spinal cord - I simply meant that there isn't as much as there is in the upper parts of the brain.

Drugs fucked my back...

not skeletally or muscularly, but neurologically.

My spinal cord permenantly feels like an euphoria emitting dildo. If I stretch it, I become intoxicated for up to 3 minutes.

Theres been days when ive laid on the floor stretching my back for hours and hours, no jokin. Its fucked up bliss. Ive stretched it so intensely as to cause damage, yet, the more painful it should become, it only becomes more euphoric.

^i think you are, ahem, stretching the truth abit.

that said, the spinal cord is the major energetic pathway for chakral activation. you bet alot of processing takes place there, neurotransmitter, hormonal, enzymatic and secondary.

Stretching supposedly releases endorphins. In some ways this seems to be more the case (euphoria) if a person doesn't stretch regularly, although there's also something to be said for a couple of hours of intense yoga. In my running days- when my now aged body allowed it - it took me at least an hour running to get the same high I get from doing a 20 mins of Tao Yin exercises.

The later, although involving far less energy expenditure and body stress, creates a high that seems to last much longer. But I still miss that 10 km /day..... :( The depression I felt after I stopped running lasted well over a year, and nothing seemed to make up for it except sessions of very intense stretching. Strange how I don't like the effects of opiates in the slightest :\

do U think looking into yoga may help uhhh release the energy in my spine? cause sometimes its pretty intense and it needs to be released and I can never find the right 'position' that would expel the most, it feels like itd be best to be strapped to one of those medieval racks, and just pulled the shit out of, id have a full blown spinal orgasm.

Yoga and/ or Tai Chi. If you decide to learn Tai Chi, make sure the teacher is a good one. Any worthy Tai Chi school should have a significant Chi (Qi) Kung component.

I can imagine Giza getting some very strange looks if he goes to a public yoga session:D

Ecstasy can also allow one to sit/slouch in postitions that would normally be uncomfortable. I believe this to be the most logical explanation for that back/muscle pain that some people experience. Try to be more aware of the positions your sitting in and this problem should be solved.
Peace
