question regarding suboxone and lortab

hi all. i've been seeing a pain specialist for a few years for back and neck issues and they've had me on lortab 10s for the last 3 years. last month, i asked the doctor for alternatives to the lortab because i just don't like all of the side effects they produce even though they help with my pain. he suggested suboxone and gave me a months supply, which i've been using for about 4 weeks. it's not helping nearly as much as the lortab did, so i want to switch back to those but from what i hear you can't just switch back. i've been taking 2mg of suboxone twice daily for 27 days. how long do i need to wait after my last suboxone dose before i can take another lortab?

thanks in advance

also, i'm worried that my usual lortab dose could be too much because i dont know if my tolerance has changed since i've been on the suboxone. i usually take one and a half to two lortab 10s at a time, twice daily. it's been 17 hours since i last took suboxone (2mg) and i'm actually in quite a lot of pain today, so please let me know as soon as possible.

thanks.

I don't think your tolerance could have gone down while taking 4mg Suboxone per day, but it could have gone up. Maybe start off with one Lortab and see if/how it affects you, then go from there? Also you might require less Lortab once the Suboxone has fully left your system then you do right now, when it's only been 19-ish hrs since your last Sub dose. You don't need to wait when switching from Suboxone to Lortab, it's just that if you take the Lortab too soon after Suboxone it might block it or partly block the effects of the Lortab.
