Question regarding red blotchy face and watery eyes after shot of Dillaudid

*****Mods, I apologize if I am in the incorrect area. I wasn't sure where this would belong. *****

So I used to be a VERY heavy IV drug user. Now it is a very seldom occasion that I actually get and do anything. I used to use in excess of 25-35 D4's.

I used to aquire them from others, as well as my own Rx.

About two years ago, I decided to clean up, and my family (wife and son) have been excellent. While my son is only 4, my girlfriend has been a ROCK. A miracle on feet if you will.

So I hate to disappoint her..... But every once in a while, I like to stay up late when everyone is in bed, put on a good TV show.. "Sons of Anarch" "Ax Men" "Shipping Wars" or something fun like that. Then I wait till I know eveyrone is zoinked out, and I'll go crush up and bang a few D4'S.

Sometimes only 1. Usually 3-4 at a time.

Here is my ultimate question... after doing the shot... after the rush is gone.. about 10 minutes post shot... I start to get red blotchy patches on my face that itch... And my eyes get watery looking... my girlfriend can tell right away when she walks in the door that I have done something.

Like I said earlier, she has been an angel, and i hate to disappoint her... so I know the obvious answer is too quit alltogether... Someday I am sure I will but for now I enjoy my monthly or bi-monthy little festivites. Does anyone know why this happens too me after I do a shot? Is there any way to avoid or control it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a histamine reaction, i'd recommend eating some antihistamines before you do opiates next time (usually available OTC as anti-nausea or travel sickness meds)

^that, or simply dose lower to decrease chances of such symptoms occurring, or at least minimising them.

See I thought about this, but i found that it does it weather I do one or five of them... it's really annoying.

histamine reaction for sure. I get this with morphine and codeine really badly. use an otc antihistamine which will reduce the histamine release AND potentiate the rush
