Managed to obtain 2Gs of albino penis envy for the night and decided to make a sandwich. Cheese, pepperoni, white bread, and threw the minced mushrooms in....I put it in the microwave for 55 seconds and eating the deliciousness remembered my friend said never put shrooms in the microwave.....am I going to trip tonight? mincing shrooms vs chewing them?

They should be fine, for short amounts of exposure a kitchen microwave shouldn't make psilocin degrade - it will primarily just warm the water in your food up.

Apparently you can extract psilocin from shrooms using microwave heating, so...
"Optimum extraction"
Homogenizing 2 minutes in 30 ml of methanol per gram of powdered shrooms recovered all psilocybin . Perkal 1981
[...]
For direct consumption, the simple extraction of chopped or shredded mushrooms with water and lime juice (or citric acid) works extremely well (color of the resulting solution is tawny not blue) Heat & cooking time should be minimized (2X of 15 minutes or less of simmering each) as prolonged cooking is neither needed nor desirable. Works well in a microwave if allowed to stand following the each heating.

Chewing mushrooms is just mincing them with your teeth. Sometimes people like to extract them with honey or water/lemon juice to make shroom-honey or lemon shroom-tea instead.

update: microwaving shrooms ( 55sec) did not seem to disturb the fact that I tripped but I also forgot earlier in the day I took quite a bit of clonazepam and did not trip as hard. Not sure if it was the benzo or the microwave.....Double dose tonight anyone?

This thread's question is answered, correct?

(The answer being that mushrooms can withstand some transient heating - consider the fact that you can make mushroom tea! - just don't overdo it with extreme temperatures and especially with sustained heating, which is just not good for the active principles)

If you take more shrooms so soon after your previous dose, you will experience a weakened trip. Psychedelic cause a strong short term tolerance. Wait at least a week before you try again to make sure you get full effects.

Yes, most of the time the result is disappointing so waiting a week is certainly the best thing to do. However reduced intensity (and especially resulting satisfaction) due to tolerance is not a consistent effect, especially if the first trip wasn't very strong to begin with.

Microwaving will *not* hurt the actives in shrooms as long as you don't roast them for long periods. Making tea subjects them to higher temperatures for longer periods of time and at hotter temperatures, and it still works very well, so you should be good on this part. But, if you are doing them two days in a row I've always found I had to ~double the dose.

Good score on the APE, I'm growing them right now and hope they turn out.
