Hello bluelight. I'm very apprehensive about what happened to me tonight. I was hanging out with a girl I met today. Anyways, I was holding a rig very clearly in my hand and she hit the tip with her finger. I apologized, as she was freaking out. I told her I get tested, never share and have no stds.

She drew a tiny, barely visible amount of blood on her index finger. Later that night I forgot what happened and started prepping a shot of dope with the same needle. As I drew the dope-filled water concoction into my needle, I remembered that she got pricked with that needle. So I took a lighter and held the flame to the tip (1/2 an inch further down than it pierced her skin, covering more than that area) for 4 seconds past it turned red hot. Let it cool down and then held a lighter to it again. Then I pushed all the dope-water back into my spoon and grabbed a fresh rig. I then recooked it, boiling far past the point I usually do (very, very large bubbles). Then I tossed a filter in and sucked it up into the new needle. I then shot the substance.

I have been very worried all night since the incidence, so my question to you is: After the safety precautions I took, what are the chances that I might have contracted an std? It was a pretty small poke that her finger got, aswell.

unlikely (if even possible) regardless of the "precautions" you took.

bacterial STDs cannot survive outside the environment of mucous membranes

Viral STD/STIs on the other hand, may exist outside of mucous membranes

STD germs are specially adapted for living inside or on the human body and die rapidly away from the body. This is why prolonged bodily contact is necessary for transmission.

supposedly hep c can survive for a duration. You can google this stuff..

Yea, he is right I am pretty sure that is impossible. I have an STD and its just that-- sexually transmitted. Unless she has HIV/AIDS or hep c you're fine.

im pretty sure you are going to be fine. ive had the same kind of freakout moments. if you are really that worried, get tested in a few weeks.

It depends whether or not the person who got pricked carries HepC, HIV or the like. If they aren't a carrier, chances are low that you'll pick up an infection.
