Question on colour of Base

I cant find another post anywhere about this so I wanted to ask;

If speed is in a paste like consitancy, I see it is generally called Base? Now the base I have seen has a yellow/cream kind of snot looking colour, smells like glue but is quite strong stuff.

Is this normal? As I havent seen any post saying base has this colour.
