Question for UK only/ ever successfully grown opium?

^ You might want to drop the fertilizer from that blend mate, at least to start with, good quality soil will hold the plants for a while before they need a feed and as others have said poppies can grow in poor soil.... they could get 'burned' if it's too rich and grow poorly or even die. But if it's worked for you before don't change it!

on the subject of growing ,i want peet pellet pot type things u slit open n put a few seeds in and let the water come in from the bottom so the roots have to seek it out, but i'm trying but i;m doing it wit peet pots in a bowl n putting water in the bottom so the seeds seek out the water, also just ordered more seeds cos i'm gonna try woodchips then soil then fertilizer ans sprinkling of sand then scatter seeds ,also the sand in pots of soil n fertilizer ill then put the seeds in the soil but a bit of sand on top of the pot then press down the seeds

I got the Cherry Glow ones as well. from a garden centre £2. Theirs plenty of varieties of Somniferum i got some of the White ones as well but i'm doing them in a raised bed outside , i've had sucsees b4 with this method .
 
Well the news of them growing in recent over turned mud is excelent because right behind my house is field upon field upon field .. i live right on teh edge of the suburbs so you can imagine ..

Oh btw when u say when the leaves fall do you mean they actually flower first then you do the slicing ?
 
Yes. They only flower for a brief period. Three or four days after the petals drop is optimum slitting time.

But only to satisfy your academic interest. Certainly don't want to encourage anything illegal.

Be careful. I stopped in part because of heightened public vigilance - police visited local farmers to warn about 'drug barons' abusing their wheat fields - and in part because of diminishing quality. Opium-free nursery products were weakening the gene pool and poor or empty sap increasingly common. It's probably worse now and legal to shoot scruffs spotted crawling round the flower beds by moonlight.

If you've good plants, scatter the seeds everywhere you go next winter. Country could use a few Johnny Poppyseeds to even up the war on drugs.
 
fortunately the fields around me are owned by an institute rather than independent farmers so i should be safe from Elmer Fud and his crafty wabbit hunting skills lol

It's easily done, I got a fair few last year, I hardly grew any but I have no opiate tolerance and I got a couple nights pleasant fuckedness off them, they suit any garden too :)
 
What did you do with it once harvested ?

Can you just chase it on foil or can it be hit up ?

I am wondering because im on a methadone script and do have a tolerance so would need to know the best way of using it

If by hit up you mean injected, no, unsafe cause the raw opium will be full of plant matter and all other sorts of insoluble shite you don't want in your veins.

chased off foil/smoked in a pipe is the best way.

could eat it if you wanted i suppose, but that'd be a waste.
 
used to smoke it in a pipe and got some fucking amazing highs that way so i spose that would be the way i would do it

I was sure i saw a thread where someone said they used the white milk and just hit that up the way it was

thats where i got that idea
 
I smell bullshit. I guess if the person who talked about banging it up fresh from the plant didn't post any more it was because they'd lost their arms or died. Sounds very dangerous and unlikely to get you a buzz at the same time, steer well clear.
 
OK, so ignorance to be excused here....do all wild poppies produce opium then? I always thought it was a specific opium poppy. Where we live, there are loads of wild poppies just coming out. I mean like fields of wild poppies! I have no idea what strain they are, just that they are red poppies. Is it worth a go?

Why do you think eating it is a waste? That's the way De Quincy took it and how everyone took it in the UK for hundreds of years. Smoking was something that seemed to take off in China for some reason. I think you're going to get a more powerful, long lasting experience from eating it than smoking it. Particularly as dried poppy heads is the only way most people will ever get their hands on opium. I don't think growing is practical - it'll take months and months just to get a very small yield.

nah not all only the somniferum varirety not the Orientale ones , they haven't got the pods.
if its got apod after the pettaals have fallen off happy days:)
 
The little red poppies you see everywhere are corn poppies. Pretty but zero opium content.

Once, many years ago and very desperate, I shot up opium just out of the plant. Possibly the most stupid thing I've ever done, which is saying something. Withdrawal would've been a picnic compared to that kind of ''dirty fix''.

Eating it is as effective as any other way - a piece the size of a processed pea should do the trick. But Iseme is also right to say it's labour intensive and yields are low. Just to complicate things many an apparent papaver somniferum produces very little sap. Best not to delete those dealer numbers from your address book, see our UK wildflowers as offering a little natural bonus.

Just to take the opporunity to get all pedantic on Ismene (because that's what a mod does, y'know) DeQuincey was using laudanum, as were most opium users in the UK at that time. So he wasn't exactly 'eating it as such. Still ingesting it orally though, yes.
 
And some say de Quincey was a bit of a fraud as well. Iseme will find a better role model amongst the moderators. Leastways if he's drunk enough laudanum.
