Does anyone else know that the Christmas tree which is found in most home is of pagan decent, not Catholic?

In olden days it was believed that a tree being cut down during fall and brought into the house would preserve it's life force in the coming months. And then that tree was replanted after winter to spread it's life force to help trees grow back to life.

Watch where you step cause I just dropped some knowledge

I totally forgot that....I need all the anti-Christmas ammo I can have when my mom gets a fucking nosebleed from being up on her high horse about Christmas.....bitch

that's pretty nifty. christmas still sucks though lol. just kidding, thanks for the info.
but i do like christmas trees. they're pretty :)

Just remind her that while mothers and sons in normal families will be spending the Holiday together and happy she still has an ungrateful son that hates her.

That'll learn her.

no you guys don't know anything. the christmas tree came from Jesus. He had eaten a lot of greens before his birthday and so his Yule Log was full of green pointy things... people naturally made the leap from poo filled with green stuff to a lovely Pine tree, since it smelled better anyway.

the true reason for the season: get drunk, get laid.

Oh Yea?

Did you know that the flying reindeer were commandeered from the siberian shamans' experiences with reindeer who ate fly agaric mushrooms? They eat 'em, get all sleepy, and when they wake up they jump like crazy, or "fly"

Now sit down and pay attention. Because you just got schooled~~ ;)

It's truf! The original church didn't celebrate Christmas for the 300 years following the resurrection. The celebration only started when Constantine started Christianizing pagan holidays to make the transition easier for pagans. Hence December 25th...which is likely nowhere near the original date Christ was born. I'm actually do not celebrate Christmas for this reason.

^Are you a Jehovah's Witness?
They don't celebrate it either- for this reason.

I celebrate it- but its all about the Winter Solstice for me......
Celebration of the season- Just like all the ther holidays- I celebrate them- but for their connection to the seasons and the earth <3

I do like the story of Jesus' Spikey Green Yule Log though ;) haha

I'm not a Jehovah's witness, but I do believe in looking to the Bible for my Christian faith. And it's seems clear to me that the practice of celebrating Christmas doesn't fall within those parameters. I'm not judging anyone who does, though. I celebrated it all my life, so I know the happiness and joy that it brings to a lot of people.

Well done for not judging Christmas celebrants- Romans 14 forbids a Christian from judging the holy days another believer chooses to observe. I personally believe that Christmas is good because Constantine set it up (along with Easter) to bring sinners into league with Christ. This was a wonderful piece of evangelism, and it's what we celebrate in our hearts that God judges- He will condemn those who idolatrously worship the sun, solstice, etc but not those who use the Christmas season to remember our savior's birth.

some more fun knowledge, although St.Nicholas was a real person Coca-Cola invented the image of "santa clause" Just think how much money goes to a cola company every year thanks to a "christian holiday" I think the whole christmas thing is commercialized and the true meaning has long since been forgotton. It's almost sad to see people loose their homes to buy gifts to see their children smile on this day.
