Question for Stimulant users.

SWIM ended up taking 2 30mg Adderall XRs a bit late last night and ended up with the (Expected) inability to sleep. It's been about 12 hours since the dose was taken and SWIM is kind of starting to feel a little better than a few hours ago. However, SWIM has to work in 10 hours. SWIM is unsure whether to redose in a few hours, hoping that the effect might get him through the day and not be too bad at night and be able to sleep, or if SWIM would be better off chancing it without the redose. SWIM will also have to work tomorrow morning, so another sleepness night is not something that needs to happen. SWIM has 3 beers and a bit of vodka that could be used to help induce sleep after work if the dose was taken? SWIM is unsure about what a safe dose to get through the day, and when to dose (With mild stimulation hopefully, instead of increasing the come-down) and be able to be somewhat effective at work at approximately 4pm to around midnight? SWIM needs some advice :| Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm unsure if you're just messing with me or what, but you're right about my post seeming more demanding than requesting. I've updated it now, unfortunately it's a scrambled garble of racing thoughts typed on a small smartphone screen at 6 in the morning. Sorry.
 
Lol, well at least there is more question mark now. Umm I guess just go off how you feel.. Get tired, pop an adderall. But that's really only going to get you so far. Ime it's better to call in sick then going to work tired and high on drugs.
 
sleep. definitely. I'm an experienced adderall sleep-deprivation student abuser. sleep
 
After a bit of food and milk and a shower I feel a bit better. I still kind of feel "Out there". Meh. Taking another dose seems like a good idea right now, but I just have no way of knowing how I'll feel by 4

It's currently 12 PM. If I were to take the same XR dose, and a bit of caffeine in a few hours, would that help me get through work better than just attempting to like I am now? Or is that risking another sleepless night? The only thing I have to help "Bring me down" is a little bit of alcohol, so I'm trying to play it safe.

Though it may give you energy, IME you'll be just as scattered, if not more so.

also, yes, you risk staying up again

I'd skip it and have a drink or two when you get home.

(BTW, the use of "SWIM" is forbidden here. Please speak in the first person in the future :) )
 
Don't redose at all, just a waste of Adderall.

I've been in this position a ton of times. I either A) Go to work and tough it out or B) Call off work and try to get some sleep.

No redosing is in the picture.
 
Unfortunately before reading the last few replies I decided to redose (Around 12pm) Around 1 I felt mild stimulation and now I'm kind of back to the spacey self-confined tweaky feeling. However, I feel less physically miserable except for a light headache. I might drink a little bit of caffeine and/or a sports drink to get some more electrolytes/vitamins in me.
Took the same dose as last night, so i'm assuming my tolerance is way higher (Being still so close to the original dose) and my neurotransmitters being mostly depleted I gave myself 12 hours for the XR to wear off before I need to sleep. Combined with a beer or three and a bit of vodka, I should be able to sleep. I'm also going to try to get off in the morning so I can sleep in a bit and maybe not be so terribly dead tomorrow.

Hoping that the alcohol can knock me out tonight :P.


Ps. I did manage to get maybe 1.5 or 2ish hours of light sleep. Didn't help a lot but gave me the "mental break" i needed.
 
I think re-dosing was the right move. No way to sleep in such a short time, especially when you try so hard to, at least for me. You probably won't have the best day/night at work. Have you considered getting off the ER/XR and moving to an IR? Much more control, I can even sleep right after taking them. I take 50mg / day of dexedrine, using 5 - 10mg pills. I know it will be hard, but I would avoid the alcohol and have a fatty meal instead, include some peanut butter and milk, both of which have calming properties. Usually puts me right out and alcohol is very disruptive to good sleep.
 
^That's why I suggested one or two drinks max. Don't go getting trashed to force yourself to sleep, rather create an environment conducive to relaxation and just use the alcohol to amplify that a bit and nudge you down that path.

Why are you being such an asshole? If you don't want to help then don't post.

For the OP, if you can't sleep after taking Adderall then having a beer or two will most definitely help. I'd save the vodka unless it's absolutely necessary.
 
re-dosing only continues to make u feel more spaced out and irritable and all the nasty side effects, onbce the duration of the initial dose of speed wears off, re-dosing doesn't bring that special duration back, just prolongues u to feel normal, since speed releases dopamine and serotonin, ur brain is deoprived, causing a crash, so u take "artificial dopamine and sertotonin" like Adderall, to avoid the crash, it only makes things worse and u waste pills
 
Update >> I still had issues sleeping by midnight so I drank some of the vodka. Passed out and woke up an hour later. Drunk. Was like "Woah I didnt mean to get this drunk" and fell back asleep again, woke up at least every hour. (Got drunker & drunker too. Probably having to do with my empty stomach.) The sleep seemed to do little to no good.

Today, I had to work in the morning, and again in a few hours. I took ONE of the XR capsules (8am) to just be able to keep me going in the morning and hopefully it'll be enough for tonight. If not, maybe caffeine or nicotine if absolutely necessary I'd prefer to avoid the caffeine though.? I've GOT to sleep tonight. Have to be up again for work so I need to be able to be asleep within an hour of getting home. I have no OTC meds or benzos. Nor can I get them. What do you guys suggest? I'm getting ready to eat a big lunch (well whatever I can get down) loaded with LOTS of calories and carbs. Then maybe lay down and rest my body a bit before I go again. I havent smoked on adderall before so I'm not sure how it will effect me. Some say it amplifies/"extends" the peak and others say it helps calm them down. Also might drink (a long with a LOT of water. Definately dehydrated but not too bad) diet pepsi (high acidity) a lot while working, or buy an orange juice or something. Doubt it'll be effective since the amphet's already metabolized but maybe I can "Flush" it out of my system faster? I could and probably will also drink a beer or two (Probably two..?) but I hope it doesnt have the same effect as last nights useless sleep. Maybe since I took half of the dose I'd been taking (a single 30xr instead of 2 30xrs) it'll wear off a bit faster in terms of the insomnia and other unfortunate effects? There was no actual "buzz" or increased concentration or anything today from it, but I'm assuming my dopamine's all gone. Maybe that'll make it easier to sleep?


What do you guys think of the "Rockstar Relax" drink to help with the sleep too?

I'm desperate to sleep :\
 
^that's why I suggested one or two drinks. Alcohol messes with sleep phases.

I don't know what's in those relax drinks, but presumably melatonin, along with some mildly sedative herbs like chamomile. They will not put you to sleep, you have to use them in conjunction with good sleep hygiene by creating a relaxing environment with dim lights, no TV or computer screens, and something quiet to occupy yourself such as reading. You can drink that drink while you're relaxing, and when you begin to feel sleepy, close your eyes and drift off.
