Hi Everyone, Long time lurker first time poster. I have a question I was hoping someone who has gone through something similar or has better knowledge of benzos can help me with. Here's my situation... I went on a 9 day alcohol bender from hell that landed me in the ER due to bad withdrawals that I knew I couldn't cold turkey from safely. I don't ever plan on drinking again. Anyway, they put me on a Valium drip and gave my dad a script for 24 10mg Valium to dispense to me with the instructions "4 a day for the first several days then 3 per day when symptoms lesson. I ended up taking the 40mg dosage for two days, then did 20mg for 2 days, then 10mg at night for two more days. I then didn't take any until last night which is almost a 5 day break. Last night I took a 10mg dose so I could sleep figuring what the the hell, no bigggie. Today I read up on the long half life of Valium and realized that it might not have been out of my system prior to last nights dosage and that physical dependency can happen very quickly. I've read horror stories about Benzo withdrawals and I've scared myself straight and want to just toss the rest of my script in the trash. My question is, based on the above mentioned usage do you think I'm in line for any kind of withdrawal? I'm hoping I'm just being a hypochondriac due to my recent Alcohol withdrawal scare. Also, before this incident I'd never had a benzo before in my life 28 and I'm 6'1 185 if that helps any. Thanks.

Nah your not addicted to valium from that about of time. Mostly its still from the alcohol withdrawals. Please be careful as Alcohol withdrawal can be life threatening and DTs can lead to some bad psychosis.

taken at those doses and with 5 tablets left, if you stop when finished and don't get anymore I can't see any addiction/benzo withdrawel issues at all.

Benzos and alcohol have cross tolerance so there's a chance that going off them might add to the withdrawal from alcohol

if anything i'd think it'd lessen the withdrawal from alcohol that was already going to be there anyway. Seems like this was actually a decent way to get someone off a drinking binge.
