Opioids Question about the new/old 10mg opana ER, is this old script the original formula?

Okay so I am prescribed 40 mg Opana ER and 5mg opana IR. I ran out of my IR a week early, so my aunt gave me some of her old script of her 10mg Opana ER. So I THINK this is the original or old formula because they look exactly the same. They are orange/peachish color octagon shape with a 10 on one side. I had never used the 10mg ER of the old ones only the 40mg ER. So I thought they were the same so I decided to crush one up (I used to snort them before I started taking them for chronic pain, so snorting them all the time would just up my tolerance way too much) so I licked the outer coating off and used a hose clamp to grind it down and still up until this point it seemed to be the same as the old 40s in terms of crushing. But after I sniffed it my nose was completely clogged and felt gelled up. Then I started haulking up total gel blobs. I am so confused, I had thought they only did one reformulation, so why am I getting all this gel? And I feel like it worked a little as far as giving me an ever so slight opiate glow. Can someone please tell me if these are the original formula or what? They seemed to be just like the old 40s and are the octagon shape. If they aren't, do you have to do the whole grind bake and freeze method like with the new ops? Also, does anyone know if watson is going to be making the generic in september since I heard te patent will be up early? The 40mg ER new formulation are shit as far as helping for pain, they totally ruined the pain killing effects with the new reformulation. Thank you in advance for any help!

That's the original formula. I remember getting the 10mg ERs well over a year ago and they gelled a decent amount when I sniffed them. Luckily I had read about it and took the advice of doing very small lines at a time. It still wasn't pleasant. Months later I got a 40mg ER and expected it to gel like that too, but that wasn't the case.

If I'm not mistaken the old Opana pills are the same size no matter the dose, so I'm guessing the 40mg pills don't get up as much since there is more active ingredient so less gelling filler for that given size, whereas the 10mg pills need 30mg accounted for in inactive ingredients. Maybe they aren't the exact weight, but they have to be close.

not trying to jack your post but i keep hearing about opanas....whats the difference between OxyContin and Opana?

This thread should give you a little idea of their differences. Also if you type in 'oxycodone vs oxymorphone' or 'oxycodone vs opana' into the bluelight google search on the top right of the page you will come across a lot more answers, but the thread I linked pretty much sums it up.

Thanks Tommyboy that is pretty much what I figured, and the advice of doing smaller lines definitely helped, although the way these gel up is totally a bitch and pretty nasty as the amount of gel is so much and causes me to gag when I'm not expecting it. Now that you mentioned it, I believe they are all the same size because I remember getting the (green?) 20s and they were the same size as the 10s and 40s. The 40s were SO much better considering they didn't gel up and were the same size, the 10s are a whole lot of powder which means a shitload of fillers.

As far as the opana reformulatuon I don't know if you follow what's going on with reformulation and what not and was wondering if I should continue this thread or start a new one for the other part of the question? As I said I now get the 40mg ER and since they have been reformulated they are about 1/8 as effective when swallowing as opposed to the og formula, which is really terrible since it makes their painkiller properties shit, and Oxymorphone has been the only med effective in treating my chronic pain (as I had a high tolerance from a couple years of IV heroin problem) so from what I have been reading, the patent has been challenged and the challenge has been accepted so it is being said that Watson may be able to come out with a generic as early as September of this year. I am thinking that the generic by Watson will NOT contain the timer-RX plastic crap, and they will be like the og formula which were SO much more effective? I read the statement on Watsons website so they are definitely making them no doubt about it but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about when they will actually be available in pharmacies and when that happens if they will in fact be like the old formula? Thanks again for the info
