Hello Bl, while I have been a member here about 4 years I rarely post. the last six years I have been struggling with opiate addiction. About two years ago I got serious about recovery and have been clean about 16 of the last 24 months. I have had setbacks but also made a lot of progress. I relapsed a few months and currently have about a month clean from everything including alcohol, longer than a month from opiates. I moved from Florida to California to get out of the environment I spent most of using time. While I know moving does not fix the problem it has certainly helped. I am also going to AA meetings daily. Right now I am on suboxone maintenance and currently weening off, I am living with my Brother and Sister in Law and they are administering me my suboxone 1mg every other day. 2x in the last 2 weeks (days I have taken my regular amount of suboxone) my Sister in Law has accused me of being on drugs because my eyes became somewhat pinned (not as much as when using but still noticeable) and glossy. Most times when I take my suboxone it has a very slight effect on my pupil but nothing too noticeable. My question is why on 2x has it had a more extreme effect?? My sister in law thinks im lying out my ass even though I have taken and passed 2 drug tests. She doesn't trust me and says it makes no sense my eyes would only be affected more sometimes and less others. To me it doesn't make much sense either but I know I am telling the truth. Does anyone know why this might happen and is it unusual? has it happened to you? Is there a biochemical reason? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm very frustrated. Thank you. Also I haven't abused it in any way, I'm not shooting it or taking more than normal. It is just my prescribed dose taken subligualnly. I am on the strips.

It is normal to have miosis on suboxone, its an opioid after all ! Pupil size is not really something you can rely on to tell if someone is on drug, sometime my pupil are huge and I dont use stimulant or psychedelics. And light is another factor that affect pupil size, if you are somewhere where there a lot of light your pupil will constrict.

^Plus only being on a single milligram every other day, the amount in your body with fluctuate quite a bit. So I could see how your pupil size can be pretty I consistent.

Does your sister in law know that what they are administering you is and opioid? Its not a magic drug that gets you off opiates its a replacement drug, so it has many of the same effects as other opiates...like contricted pupils.

For the record my pupils will be more pinned when I take my Sub dose of 1-2 mg than when I am using dope(unless I am super high), if its been over 10 days since I've been on the Subs...whatever opiate receptor is responsible for miosis is probably one that buprenorphine has a strong activity on.
