I was wondering if I were to start going to seek Methadone at a clinic for treatment. How would I go about doing so? Do I have to fill out a bunch of paperwork with all my information and doctor and all that?
Can someone please specify.

Also is there a way I can go and have NOBODY know? Such as family, and my doctor. Cause my doctor definitely would say something to my mom if she went there.

What are the requirements

First of all, it depends on your location, and your age. There are private and public clinics as well, and the process is different. Your first step would be to call or visit local providers. Assuming your American, some aspects ARE universal. You will have to be able to provide a urine. Positive for opiates/opioids so that for most substances that will mean having to have used within the last 72 hours.

You make an appointment for screening which if you are eligible will usually turn into your intake apointment if you opt to go through with it. You will be vetted for past use, some states require at least one prior attempt to desist in the past but that is rare. You will see a Doctor or Nurse Practicioner to do the actual prescription, physical and very basic blood work-up.

Within a couple of hours you will get your initial dosage of between 20 and 40 mgs, with 30 the usual.

As to who will know, if you are free of parole and probation and over 18 noone will know unless they see you there, etc. Patient confidentiality is taken seriously. Good luck.

theres a thing called HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)

basically your doctor cant disclose any of your health information to anyone. not even your mother. hippa is taken very seriously! i wouldnt stress too much about your mother finding out.

I know doctors can prescribe methadone, but generally methadone clinics are unrelated to general practitioners, and I don't know or think a GP can refer you to a 'done clinic.

Just look up online for methadone clinics in your area and call em. When u get there, you fill out paperwork just like with anything else....

Its pretty simple
