Question About Resin?

Does smoking resin always produce smoke? The reason I ask is because just now, I smoked out of my empty bowl that had some resin caked on the side. I took pretty deep hits and it burned my throat like hell. But when exhaled, no smoke came out. And I wasn't holding it in for long. I definitely got the effects, I'm pretty blazed. But I'm a little worried, cuz I thought... What if I'm just inhaling lighter fluid? Or just hot air?

So, main question, does resin always produce smoke? 8o

Yes. But your lungs can absorb most or all of the particulate matter & vapours (depending on how long you hold it) and you therefore blow nothing out.

Smoke in != smoke out.

That's what I thought. But when it comes to resin I either don't hold it in at all, or if i do, it's for a very short time. I just found it odd.

Also all that butane!

As long as the lighter is lighting you shouldn't be inhaling any butane as it's immediately being burned away... Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it is.

I rarely exhale any smoke when I'm just taking dry hoots from a pipe. The only time there's smoke is if there's a lot of dry crusty weed stuck to the inside of the bowl.

The amount of butane you inhale is miniscule compared to the amount of air, smoke, and particulate matter from the weed you inhale. A few milligrams of butane will not kill you or give you splitting headaches.

If there's worry about breathing in any butane, well I have some suggestions!

1. Buy hempwick. Beeswax and hemp have NO butane.
2. Get a refillable torch lighter. The high heat should take care of the butane, and you can buy 5x filtered butane at tobacco shops. No impurities, burns clean. Its the same thing I've used to make BHO for local MMJ patients. If its clean enough to be used for hash, it's clean enough to smoke with.
3. Get a vaporizer!
4. Learn to Hot Knife. It works really well for resin and hash alike.

Now, theres talk of whipping BHO to form budder and wax, and the whipping supposedly decarboxylizes the CBD's etc back to THC. If I were to whip resin in a similar fashion, does anyone think the end result will be noticeably more potent?

Sorry if its off topic, just came up as I was typing lol.

well if theres no smoke coming out I'd say your not getting anything worth while but I have a really high tolerence, I'd probably have to take like 5 big milky res hits out of a pipe to get high and theres usually not even that many in there to begin with, just one or two if you leave it for awhile.
