Hi all. I am a new-poster.....please be kind!
I am 40, male, weigh about 250lbs. I have chronic back pain and have been prescribed oxycodone 5mg pills, 90 at a time (script, not on-board!).
I work in a field where we get randoms.....so when I do the oxy, I do it with care and not around the times when I work the following day.
I had been introduced to oxy in the form of percocet 10/325 a few years ago after a gall bladder surgery and they were great. Then I had back issues and was prescribed more by another dr. What I would do is, on my day off, I would take two 10/325mg percocets in the AM, empty stomach, and riiide the waaave, man. It was glooooorious. Then I would watch tv in bed and have the most wonderful nap for a few hours.
Fast forward to now, I go to a pain mgmt specialist who is really pretty awesome for my back pain. He used to give me percocets 10/325 or 500, and doing what I do (I'll let you guess), I would do some CWE and get out the APAP but that was a bitch.
Then after he and I got cool after me seeing him every month, I asked him for "no APAP" because, as I told him, I didn't want to mess up my liver. True, I didn't, but that wasn't my full motivation.
So he then prescribed me 5mg oxycodone, to be taken 3x a day. So I basically go to him every month and collect a script which i then fill for 90 pills a month, at 5mg each. It is safe to say that I have a LOT at any given time, especially since I don't take the prescribed dose like EVER bc of my job and my random pee tests at my job. I can't have it in me if I should get tested. I should also say that I go to a rheumatologist and am on Tramadol which I do take as prescribed but am on my way off of it, so I am currently on a wean and should be totally off in like two weeks or so. When I do take my oxy, I do NOT take the tramadol.
Regarding the oxy. I have, from time to time, popped one (5mg pill) when i go out with the fam, and I am a happy lovey camper. When I am home alone, I have found that I can no longer get tht mental high or buzz that I used to get a year ago. I have apparently hit the wall.
I have taken a max of 10mg -- I THINK I may have taken 15mg once but I don't remember.....I know, to many of you this is like "what 15mg??? Are you kidding???", but I don't want my pulse to slow to zero if you get my meaning.
I don't want to snort this stuff. Bioavailability wise it's better to eat it anyway. My question is what can I do, safely, to get the buzz on again??? I miss that a lot.
I have also, never found it to be horrific to get off of the stuff. I take it on a day off, like I said, when everything else is under control. I do it in the AM so that by the time school ends for my son, I am on task. I don't do it when I have to work the following day, so that limits me to like maybe 2-4 days per month.
I was on oxycontin, which didn't really do much for me since it was too much to deal with with that coating, and since I can get oxycodone so easily, why bother with the whole coating thing you know?
SO like I said, I look forward to your responses, and again, I am happy to be here!
