Opioids Question about Opium Poppy

I've read about people extracting Morphine and Codeine from Opium Poppy seeds bought in the store.

First off, is this possible from just the seeds? Because I've also heard that the opium comes from the latex in the plant, not the actual seeds.

However, my real question is, if you really can extract Morphine and Codeine from Opium Poppy seeds through letting the seeds sit in a glass of cold water for a few hours then straining out the seeds, can this new liquid be IV'd?

First, the seeds do not contain opiate alkaloids. Sometimes they get the seeds by crushing the pods and separating the pods from the seeds and this gets the opium latex on the outside of the seeds so when you wash them in water, you get the opiates in the water and this is often called 'poppy seed tea'.

Many companies wash their seeds so this is impossible unless the seeds have not been washed.

When you do get the alkaloids in the water, there are lots of impurities that make IV'ing that solution quite dangerous to say the least. furthermore, IV'ing codeine put you at risk for pulmonary edema.
