Hi

I suffer from legitimate pain in both my legs I've had blood test and all came back clear so they don't know what it is they have prescribed amitriptyline which is an AD but sometimes used for pain but also knocks me out so I can't take them during the day .they won't prescribe anything that I would think would help cuz of my age (24) they are reluctant to prescribe any opiates as I'm quite young so I have been taking tramadol from a friend and they have really helped should I tell the Dr this? Or would it be frowned upon? Also I take Xanax and Valium to help me sleep as the pain often wakes me up and doesn't leave me with a hangover like the amitriptyline does. So should I tell the Dr the meds that help or should I continue with this trail and error thing that he's doing and trying his hardest to avoid opiates. I know if I was 50 I would of been prescribed oramorph or oxy's as the pain is so intense.

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Hello phsycra. This is a difficult question to ask here, as it isn't allowed to ask how to deal with your doctor to have some drugs.

I think you should be 100% honest with them, as s/he isn't here to give you problems but to help you getting better. Honesty with your psych/doctor always pays imo. If it doesn't, you can always chose another professional.

I'm going to close this now, please read the BDD Guidelines in my signature, and feel free to PM me with any questions.
