Question about codeine and citalopram (SSRI)

So citalopram prevents codeine to work due to its cyp2d6 inhibitor. I've eaten 20mg citalopram for two months but now I'm stopping it as I don't need it anymore, the last dose was taken about 44 hours ago. Citalopram has 35 hours half-life, so I am wondering if codeine will work now or no? HAs anyone skipped his (two) daily dose and dosed codeine, did it work?

I have only this 300mg codeine left so I don't want it to be wasted, so need to know accurately will my cyp2d6 act normally now so codeine will work as normally.

Thanks. %)

Citalopram (as a CYP450 2D6 inhibitor) does not wholly prevent codeine from working, it just reduces the amount of codeine that is metabolized into morphine by a small amount... most people likely won't even notice a difference in effects and if they do, it'd be rather small.

With this in mind, you can still get effects from codeine while taking citalopram so 44 hours after your last dose you certainly will. I don't see any reason why you won't receive the full effects of the codeine.

Since this is essentially a combination/dosing question, I'm going to send it to basic drug discussion.

I came up with this:
Citalopram statistics: half-life 35 hours, 90% eliminated 7.3 days. typical onset of withdrawal 3-6 days after each drop in dose.

So what this will mean? I already CWE'd my codeine ready for taking it but then read that. Not sure now.

Oh yes it works, took 390mg and last time when took it 2 months, so tolerance pretty much zero. First effects felt already after 2min, feels so good. :)

2 minutes? lol

I'm confused about the citalopram too, you took it for 2 months but stopped because you don't need it anymore?

I took citalopram for post natal depression and was told by 2 different doctors that it would probably take about 6-8 weeks to even feel it working...

not dissing you, but the words placebo much? keep popping into my head.

Ye took it to empty stomach, first little effects felt 2 mins but now after 30mins feel it even greater. Snus on my mouth boost greatly it. :) Almost nodding, this is the right dose for me, never felt so close to nodding with codeine and soo itchy. yay ^^ funny note m7y coach havent gone anywhere, so much for the coach supressant

About citalopram, I had it from last2 years left, doctor didnt script it to me but I myself started to take for social anxiety. I went to fulyl natural lifestyle and realized that its in my head, just dont give a damn what else think you and you can act without anxiety. Im pretty sure its was not placebo I started to get blunt feelings and cold, no empathy and ego drive on. Didnt like it so wont eat it anymore.
