Do any benzos have recreational value? This may seem like a stupid question but I really like learning new things about drugs, and sharing my experience, so please don't flame.

A lot of people do them around here but the only times i've done them:

Once while drinking: Took 8 lorazepam (ativan) 1mg's after drinking 8 beer, ended up getting arrested (not charged, just taken to the station and questioned, then released at my girlfriends house, fucking embarrassing) trying to kick my moms door down ( I seriously regret it, It was over something so stupid as well, clothes that I didn't need and she knew I was on something so wouldn't let me in, thank god my little brother wasn't home... I don't have a violent history)

My second and last time: Took almost 20 .5's ( I forget the name, but they were low dose my friend who's 19 is prescribed them so I don't know if theyd be that strong, although I don't know much about benzos) and in the morning I wasn't feeling myself and almost got in a fight with a friend who stayed the night (he also took about 20) he got cocky with me in the morning walking into my bedroom to wake me up for no reason, I told him to "get the fuck out" (fuck mornings) and he thought I meant out of my house, slammed my door saying he was going to cave my head in and all that, and I ran after him, we made up since then and attributed it to the benzos, but still we were really good friends, and that was so out of the blue.

So both experiences we're pretty horrible to say the least, so my question is, are benzos recreational in any way? What are they best used for? I heard they're good for getting to sleep or coming off of drugs (like uppers), but they seem to be very popular around my area (the drug scene is basically opiates way overpriced i know you can't discuss the actual prices, but it's fucking insane, shitty homegrown weed, and very rare ((lucky if twice a year)) acid, shitty unmarked E, and shrooms, but ALOT of people are prescribed benzos ((fun fact they're called nerve pills or nervies around here)) so theyre around alot, and very cheap) So that probably factors into why its popular...

Another thing, I was thinking on trying to get prescribed these if possible for my social anxiety/depression as I don't want to go on anti depressants, my mom has been on them 30 years and when she doesn't have them shes like a zombie...

Sorry for the scrambled thoughts on here I'm on concertas and it's almost 6am.. But basically : are benzos recreational in any way? What are they best used for?

Yes, but it's not worth the addiction and money and w/d symptoms
really really not

i mean if you actually have anxiety disorder and cant even leave your house fuck yeah its worth taking 2mg of klonopin or something and just being calm is good enough.
However, if thats not of value to you I wouldnt mess with it. Taking say, 10-12mg of klonopin Blacking out, and doing things you have no memory of and acting in ways you wouldnt usually just isn't that "fun" imo

(you should never take that many benzos, 20? even if theyre half a milligram each that is just not safe)

It's not crippling I can leave my house, I just can't be in big groups and have trouble having conversations with people, I guess sometimes I avoid social interaction because of it and it gets pretty lonely, as much as I try to believe I don't need social interaction.. I don't know why I became so fucking shy. I used to be so different.

I know, it was a party and my friend just had his script filled and was handing out handfulls because I got him drunk for free.. Didn't realise how much I ended up takign till the morning and the bottle was empty.

yeah that happens to many people; in any case try to avoid taking 10-20 pills while drinking, whether they are benzos or not.

Some benzos are recreational IMO, diazepam is my favourite i guess (well if you don't count etizolam). I really like phenazepam too for some reason and i am addicted/depdendent on etizolam, still works great for anxiety but no euphoria any more. If you used etizolam once a month or something i think that's about as recreational as these sorts of drugs are going to get. There are other alcohol like drugs on the market that may be more up your alley, and then things like gbl/ghb, which are from what i'm told at least, insanely euphoric, tho i've never had the pleasure to try them.

i think the worst part about benzos are that they are so insanely fucking cheap that you can obtain a massive habit while with opiates you are limited by your finances. I take double digit doses of etizolam/day and it is still sustainable and i am a poor student in massive debt.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. There is no high better than the first time you take a ten ml (blue) valium. You're just sitting there and suddenly, god is in his heaven and all is right with the world. The most exquisitely pure feeling of tranquility and bliss. And, you're completely functional! But you're also right about losing the high after very short term use. I've had a script for over ten years and, even if I don't take the valium for a couple months, I still can't recapture that original high. Although it's great for stress/anxiety if you just need something you can take when you're overwhelmed. On the other hand, I give my friend ten or so valiums a year, and she still gets that wonderful high from them. I think you just cross a line at some point, and the high never returns, no matter how long you go without doing the drug.

I actually had a recent discussion about this where I was surprised that people were talking about valium here like you were going to take one valium, and become instantly addicted. I've never known that to be true, although those sensationalized stories back in the seventies may have something to do with it. What people don't know is that doctors were prescribing users ten or twelve blue valiums a day for years -- hell yes, you will get addicted if you're taking that much! For myself? I've been taking valium fairly regularly for about 12 years and I am not addicted -- sometimes I actually forget to take them for weeks on end if I'm not experiencing a lot of stress. But I've never taken more than one at time or more than two in one day, which may have something to do with it. So, yeah, my experience is that they may have a fairly high potential for addiction, but it's not like it's going to happen overnight. You're more likely to get addicted to vicodin than to benzos, IMO, and in far less time

I will say do not drink with valium EVER! alcohol and benzos are potentially fatal, especially if you've been dieting or doing a cleanse. People have died from taking a valium with a couple drinks after not eating for a day or two. On the other hand, valium is a great antidote to a hangover :)

Taking 20 pills of any substance is a dangerous idea. You need to take this shit seriously as it can (as you have clearly shown) get you into big trouble or hurt/injured.

Seriously learn about the substance BEFORE you take any amount, let alone 20. A little caution will go a long way in helping you stay alive and out of jail.

i can't say whether opiates/benzos are easier to get addicted to but benzos are certainly easier to get a dependence to because they are so subtle you don't even notice it happening. I've been addicted to both for years on and off, sometimes at the same time but i generally trade one for another. needless to say i'd need about 200mg of valium to even relax now, and yeah that original high just never comes back after you are dependent. Kind of the same with opies too but not as bad, at least i can get euphoria from them still.

They're best used as anxiolytics. To people with severe anxiety, being in a state of calamity is recreation in itself. If you're looking for a buzz further than that, look elsewhere.

OP did you start having the anxiety after abusing benzos in large doses with alcohol? Thats been known to happen. I still dont understand what euphoria comes from benzos I have pretty bad anxiety but its far from euphoric. Although benzos do seem to add a mild euphoria to suboxone.

You already made this thread, then deleted it, and now reposted it?

Sorry man but this isn't harm reduction.

No, benzodiazepines are not very recreational. They are tools, not toys.
