Ok so I have a bottle of Focalin XR lying around, that I don't use. I abused it via snorting a while back and had troubles with getting my tolerance back down. I went on holidays, etc. no luck. I eventually switched to Vyvanse. Though I am on a low dose right now, it helps a considerable more amount of my concentration in school. I was just wondering if the effects of Focalin will combine with Vyvanse. If I were to use Focalin again, would it affect the way my Vyvanse worked? Thank you.

Well.. Taking both together is not really recommended as what will happen is the vyanase will cause an excess amount of dopamine to be created. The focalin will the inhibit the reuptake of it into the synapses. This could potentially lead to a very cranky and wired feeling being produced, and also your seizure threshold will be lowered. You also face a broader host of side effects from the stimulants, each will potentiaties each others to a pretty nasty degree.

I don't really recommend taking them both together. Not a wise idea. Although others may have different opinions.

What if I didn't take them together? For example, what if I use some Focalin recreationally, or to study at home, and then use my Vyvanse 100% as directed in the morning for school? Will the Vyvanse be less effective due to the Focalin use?

^that will work, but could be dangerous, because taking a DNRI (Focalin/Methylphenidate/Cocaine) after a Dopamine agonist (Vyvanse/Amphetamines) GREATLY potentiates the DNRI.

Also another question I have: If you take Focalin kind of late at night, like 6:00 PM, would it be POSSIBLE to fall asleep that night? I haven't taken it yet, but I might. Would Benadryl help? Alcohol? (I can steal a little bit from my parents) And I also have access to natural sleep aids. Would it be worth it?

What natural sleep aids do you have access to? I don't suggest alcohol at all. Focalin/Ritalin is a bitch drug to sleep on, but alcohol makes the crash much worse. What time do you want to sleep? Benadryl will help. I used to take a handful of promethazine and a bunch of herbal stuff too when I didn't have benzos and it knocked my lights out on a Ritalin binge.

If you can get doxylamine succinate that's a better sleep aid than benadryl IME, although splitting your dose 50/50 between the two drugs also has good results IME. Avoid alcohol.

The natural sleep aids are something like Moondrops, and some other generic stuff. I don't know what it is right now. My mom has Promethazine, should I take that? Also, my mom has this hydrocodone-homatropine syrup thing that I have used before. I guess I can take a little of that with out her noticing. It was from a long time ago.

Right now, I am thinking Benadryl, Promethazine and some natural sleep aids. How much do I take?

Well you can take 50mg of promethazine. If that doesn't floor you, 75mg for definate will. I don't suggest mixing an opiate with the lot if you're taking Benadryl and promethazine and will probably be unnecessary to do so.

So 50mg prometh, what about the Benadryl? Same amount? And would a sleep aid hurt?

I take Adderall daily (90-120mg IR) and have used Focalin on many occasions. That being said, Focalin gives me more of a "tweak" experience lasting at most 2-3 hours, whereas with addy its a less intense experience, lasts quite a bit longer (6-8 hrs depending on dosing) and not as quite a "speed" like feeling. So, if it were myself, then yes I would easily be able to sleep having taking Focalin (even at a high dosage). However, dif meds effect ppl differently so this may not be the case for you. As for Benedryl, I sometimes take my addy a little late and have an exceptionally hard time sleeping. In this case, my first solution is to take some benzos i.e. alprazolam (not a recommendation simply personal experience). If none are available, I take a high dose of Diaphenhydramine (Benedryl) along with a very high caloric meal, 1000mgs of Vitamin C, plenty of water & a hot shower. Natural sleep aids such as Melatonin will indeed aid in the process, but as to alcohol, I personally wouldn't go that route. Finally, it'd be worth a shot (IF it were me). Most importantly, be careful. Also, the alcohol isn't a good idea IMO.
