Question About Administering IV Heroin to an Opiate Naive Friend

^It might have been national, but I read it on the internet. I've never run into another person who has heard about it except my friend from Galveston/Houston.
Especially when I copped in SLC and they were trying to sell me "cheese", no one knew what I was talking about.

I guess it's just the sensationalist journalists who made it out to be "for kids". Although I don't know why adults would want it as you can't inject it cause of the APAP, and you probably would want to snort that either.

well actually aside from the added effects from the diphenhydramine

it is cut up with that shit in order to make the tar easily snortable. no need to snort tar water (as alot do around here, called monkey water)

i agree that long time heroin users prob werent down with this stuff but i dunno it took off for a lil while around here.

^ I meant to say
"probably wouldn't want to snort that either"
I guess it's easier than a "water bump". Especially for the new users who wouldn't want to or didn't know how. "Monkey Water", that sounds as horrible as it probably is. I've only done tar a couple times, and I can only imagine what a water bump with it is like, all sicky and gooey.

Still I don't think I'd want to stick APAP up my nose, especially the amounts you'd need due to the very low heroin %. Although the diphenhyramine probably goes well.

I think what you quoted includes people who stop breathing while nodding or sleeping later on during the high. If you stay awake and alert, that won't happen. An OD doesn't always imply being knocked out; an OD is just taking more than you normally do/more than suggested. It's possible to OD and be fine for a few hours, but later on die from respiratory depression while asleep or by choking on vomit or whatever. Your study is not saying that people are spontaneously dying hours later. It's saying that death caused by ODing occurs much later, but all those deaths could be avoided if the person ODing stays awake/alert.

What I meant is if in the first few minutes you don't uncontrollably lose consciousness, then it's not going to spontaneously happen later on. It's just not possible.

This is incorrect. You are confused about the mechanics of opiate overdose. And this study does not say that death can be avoided "by staying awake". Don't give advice about topics you don't understand, particularly when it comes to overdose. You're incorrect advice could kill someone.

100grm bag

im not sure of the quality of the gear in your local but neither snorting or injecting is wise the first time, you say he wants "the full effect" and in my humble opinion
smoking H will give a first timer as full an effect as he could wish for and a whole lot safer. To jump straight to snorting or injecting seems rather foolish, i would suggest chasing the dragon as in my exp the ability to limit the intake in ratio to the way you feel is a fine way of starting out i don,t mean to sound patronising but this was the way i started and have never had an o/d since starting taking h myself hope this helps stay safe:D:D

You really have nothing better to do then follow OD mods around and misread their posts so you can complain about something? Nowhere did I say that staying awake is a guarantee that you will not OD. I said some of the time, that can help you avoid dying, but no, it's not going to in all cases, and nowhere did I say that that study literally said that either, it was my interpretation of it because spontaneous OD is not going to happen that much later.

Please, enlighten us with the correct information. How am I "confused" about the mechanics of an opiate overdose? It's simple to understand. What I said is that spontaneous unconsciousness only occurs some-time with in the first hour of administration, and that typically when people die after that, it is usually because they stopped breathing while asleep or threw up while asleep. Again, NOWHERE did I say that overdose can ALWAYS be avoided by staying awake, I just said that USUALLY it can because SOMETIMES death occurs when a person allows themselves to fall asleep/nod out.

Spontaneous OD (meaning falling out and stopping breathing uncontrollably, like what usually happens when people OD right after shooting up) does not occur (except maybe extremely rarely in very strange circumstances) hours after administration. Please explain how that would even be possible, considering IV heroin duration.

That's your problem: you call everyone else out but never post anything to correct it. We all liked it better when you weren't posting in here. You contribute absolutely nothing except baseless critiquing of anything a Moderator says. Sorry if you're bitter that you aren't modding anymore, but get over it and get over yourself while you're at it.

I don't even know why I'm responding to you. It's pointless.

When mods give out dangerous incorrect advice, I'll always call it out. You clearly said that "all those deaths could be avoided if the person stays awake." This is false.

Then fucking correct it! You saying it's dangerous and not saying why is just as fucking dangerous. You're right, me saying what you quoted was a dangerous generalization, but you don't have to be an ass about it. Correct it and move on, but that's too hard for you because you have a fucking hard on for following us around and monitoring all our posts.

Jesus dude, we're fucking mods, that does NOT mean we have to know EVERYTHING. People are bound to say something wrong - I do it sometimes, so does everyone else - but the point of this site is to CORRECT IT. You don't give a shit about sound HR advice, because if you did, why only point out when Mods post something wrong? Why not point it out when everyone does? It's obvious all you care about is bitching about the OD mods because you have some stick up your ass that has to do with us.

If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, I'll admit it, everyone makes mistakes. I guarantee I could dig through all your posts and find something that is wrong. It's not our job requirement to know everything. We still learn stuff in the process of doing this job, so we're bound to get some things wrong. When I start getting everything wrong in all my posts (obviously I'm not since I haven't seen you respond to any of them in quite a while), then we'll have a problem, but until then, correct it or shut the fuck up.

call him out and correct him then, don't just say not that's wrong. no, i'm not just jumping on and riding 6/7's dick because like he said

i wouldn't have said it so eloquently though:D

Boys Boys!!!!
Lets all take it down a notch or two-though for the record I do understand sixpartseven's frustration, and also agree that it does little good to simply state that someone is wrong about something. If someone posts incorrect or incomplete information, you should absolutely point it out (politely), but also be sure to explain why it is incorrect, and provide the correct, or better answer.

But lets move on, we have managed to get off topic from the off topic direction this thread took. I believe I have received good answers to my original question about administering IV dope to an opiate naive friend.

The thread has now moved towards a discussion regarding when an OD is likely to occur after administering the IV heroin- it is perfectly fine that it has moved in this direction since my original question has been answered, and I believe it was I who first asked in this thread, "If I did administer too much to my friend, when would an OD likely occur". Im glad we are having a discussion about this subject because it is something I have wondered/worried about for awhile.

So, to make things clear, I am asking about the timing of an OD, assuming that no other drugs/alcohol have been taken, and only 1 shot of heroin was administered. Obviously if other drugs/alcohol have been taken, or multiple shots are given, this would muddy the waters and the timing of an OD could happen at any point.

But, if one were to administer one shot to someone who has not taken any other substances, are we in agreement that if an OD were to occur, it would occur almost instantly? Obviously there are exceptions to all rules, but is it fair to say that in this scenario, a near instant OD would be the rule, and it would be very out of the ordinary that someone would be given 1 shot, remain conscious and "with it" for an hour or more, and then sometime later in the night, suffer an OD (assuming no additional shots or drugs were taken)?

I have wondered/worried about this regarding my own use. Sometimes I wonder if I take an opiate using an instant or near instant route of admin, feel fine for several hours and then lie down to go to sleep, I worry that I may somehow get into trouble once I go to sleep. Is that a rational fear, or do I really have nothing to worry about if I have felt fine for several hours after administering, and then go to sleep? I wouldn't say that Im worried about an actual OD (since in all of these cases, I feel completely fine and do not feel I've taken anywhere near an overdose), I am just worried once I go to sleep, I may stop or slow my breathing to a dangerous level. Nothing has ever happened to justify this concern, but I still have a bit of anxiety about what could happen once I fall asleep. I'd love to hear peoples' opinions regarding whether or not this is a rational fear or not. Thanks-DG

id say anxiety like that is probably a good thing. i personally have had a couple friends die in their sleep. the majority of them have all been using opiates for years. i think at that point you just really need to know yourself because YES it can happen.

MOST of the friend ive had that have ODed from injection have ODed right after injection though.

yes, that seems to be the consensus

daddysgone, this thread has pretty much run it's course. I'm gonna close it, but if you really want it reopened, shoot me a PM and let me know and we'll talk about it.

Closed.
