Quality differences in pill manufacturers

This can go for every type of pill. I have heard many people complain about certain brands. I would assume that there are standards set out by the FDA so each type would have the same mixture of medication. Does anyone know if variances are allowed to any extent?


I am particularly interested in the brands of Adderall IR. I remember Rite Aid pharmacy was my go to because they had those nice orange footballs 30mg IR... I am pretty sure it was Barr that manufactured them. Now Rite Aid has those pink CorePharma pies I heard that they weren't as potent. I noticed a difference in effect, but I thought it was just me not having a script for a couple months.

Does anyone have any imput on thier preference, the various types or any info on WTF is going on with the different versions?

I assume it may be possible to call and ask each pharmacy what specific type of pill they carry even though most people don't even pay attention to such things.

I don't really pay much attention to people's pill preferences...chances are if it's being sold at a US pharmacy, it is exactly what it is, whether name brand or generic, same with OTC drugs. Even pills manufactured under questionable conditions in Pakistan or China have the drug in question in them, although there was that scandal recently about a major pharma supplier in India manufacturing fake drugs, though the exact drugs in question escape me.

Mostly it's just mental though, I guess some people would rather have something from Pfizer or Roche than some random generic.

The only pill manufacturers difference that I've personally noticed was with Hydrocodone (Lortab) 10mg/325mg. The CVS brand Mallinkroft (sp?) M367 are generally known to be significantly weaker than that of Watson or IP (not sure the manufacturers name of these.)

For instance, I can take (with my tolerance) 150mg of the Watson norcos and have a good buzz, where if I bought (and I never make that mistake anymore) the M367 tabs, I would probably have to take like 300mg to feel anything. But that's insane to do because of the acetaminophen. My liver/kidneys would just be shot from so much APAP. Cold water extraction is the best way to go when dealing with this type of substance.

So yeah, I have noticed differences of strength and effect on the CVS generic Lortabs, compared to the brand name or other generics.

Some manufacturers are cheap and shitty and fill the actual pill with so many binders/fillers that it pretty much becomes a fucking Tylenol. Never go with CVS. Cheap fuckers.

For some reason, your first statement is agreed upon (even in the junkie crowd of things, where they don't know shit about other manufacturers)...


I have always been supportive of what I can literally prove wrong, is that, different manufacturers definitely do not have the SAME exact effects (whether the pill has different metabolism properties..or what).

Best comparison I can make is between clonazepam 2mg by sandoz (always reliable) , feels like it should, clonazepam (very generic brand, there site is barely functional) 2mg, slightly weaker (which is why I looked them up, they seemed like they would be a better experience, they looked like wafers), clonazepam 2mg by mylan (feels like a sugar pill, I then looked up mylan clonazepam...and found loads of people complaining).

As for generic adderall, 20mg pill felt like 5mg.. or less.

Fentanyl patches vary on effectiveness by brand--I used to use them buccally and the sandoz nongel were great. There was a tan nongel (actavis I think) that was awful

Some have more fentanyl in, for example a 100 mcg per hour can have different total amounts of fentanyl by brand.
