Quaalude / Methaqualone Compared To Benzodiazepines And Barbituates

Benzos have no where near the same level as euphoria or sedation as Soma or Meprobamate.

have u ever even done mepro?

all 3 times i did it was a very light sedation i got, not unlike a dose of librium or oxazepam.
lorazepam, diazepam, alprazolam, and bromazepam were even heavier in my experience compared to mepro.

it was certainly nothing like the heavy sedation i get out of nitrazepam, temazepam, or triazolam.

Soma was alright, but i still prefer most benzos to it.

Yes I have. And it will blow any benzo out of the water.

You obviously only took a prescribed dose, and were not abusing them if this is your answer.

They are not called barb-like for no reason. Benzos just can't match this type of sedation or euphoria.

Soma and Mepro can put me into a coma by accident, but benzos never can.

Bro, you need more than 2500 mgs. That's a weak dose of mepro, almost not even recreational.

they used equivalent doses for all 3 of the drugs in that study.
they used 0.5 mg of triazolam and 400 mg of butabarbital (a CIII barb) -- those aren't "recreational doses" of triazolam or butabarb either, but they still achieved far greater scores than mepro did. Mepro was equal to placebo (indistinguishable from placebo) .

the point is, that study pretty much sums up my experience with mepro.
it was very mild -- very similar to librium or oxazepam in overall strength of effects.

I agree with Psychdelic Jay on Soma being more recreational than most all benzodiazepines. (Temazepam being the exception)

Soma is good, yes!
I found it to be quite a bit better than meprobamate, but still i prefer temazepam, diazepam, nitrazepam, triazolam, and a whole bunch of other benzos to soma.

Ahh the memories!! Thanks for posting about ludes dang I sure miss them!! What were those liquid pills called that were similair? I cant remember the name of them but they looked like gelcaps and were in red or green.. i think? its been a while... no comparison to the benzos of today, not nearly as good a buzz imho. meprobamate was my favorite scripted drug..love it love it love it!! miss it too!

Placidyl- Red ones were 500 mg. Green ones were 750 mg.
Awsome high- I'd take 2 red gel caps. Feel a mild burning sensation and then a wonderful euphoric swimmy high. Too bad they were discontinued in 99'. I had an oldtimer (in his 60s in the early 90s) say that they were the next best thing to ludes, even better than seconal (which I also enjoyed very much) and which he would get jars of 1000 in TJ during the late 50s OTC.

Anyway seconal has been re-released. Maybe because its a drug of choice in euthanasia.8o Bluelight thread:

Seconal Re-introduced to market

^ pentobarbital and thiopental are the euthanasia drugs.
although i'm sure secobarbital can be used aswell.

???????

You seriously think that any benzo can even compete with Soma or Meprobamate on a recreational scale?

That is the biggest LOL in world.
Huh? Meprobobamate was the very first drug I did, even before pot or beer. Stole some out of my grandmother's medicine cabinet when I was maybe 10. Even then I wasn't all that impressed.

I was just about to say that ^^^ *Temazepam STOMPS soma, for me. I personally find soma to be anything but fun/recreational. I pretty much would rather NOT take anything than take that (and that says something...haha).

the first time I tried meprobamte it was in combination with 5mg dexedrine/ 250 mg miltown. 4 of those made me tweak heavenly, smothing out the rough edges. It was in an 16 year old bottle and
I would take the tabs out pour in oj and replace with coffee creamer so my dad wouldn't realize- he was a pack rat with narcs- scarred to throw them in trash. They tasted off and smelled of a strong sickly chemical smell but still worked good.
I think the combo was called appetrol (not to be confused with obetrol)- the Rx was from 73' or 74'.

JS-Oh yea!!! Placidyl's wow those were amazingly fun. Hit hard and fast~~ ie: laughing & partying one moment, the next on the floor until getting control of that super strong buzz. Whew I just went back in time 20 years in a few seconds reading this post lol!

As an "older" man....I grew up in the 70's.....I was quite familiar with quaaludes.......first off...I hear people trying to compare them with other barbs or benzos.........WRONG.....ludes were ludes......that's that''''......they felt freaking great........it was almost like a drunk feeling without the nastiness of booze.....I haven't had one for probably 30 years, but I must say...If I had the choice to do any drug I wanted, it would be a lude....it saddens me that they are no longer available.....I just read that in south africa they are abused....I might try to go there!....unfortunately, they feel so good, they are almost entirely abused, and tehy are a bit dangerous......addictive, overdosable, and bad for things like driving.......they had a great body high.....very limber.....lowered inhibitions...just fiucking great!........get a feew ludes, and a babe....you're getting laid!.....the girls loved them....they were plentiful in the early to later 7o's....they can't be compared to seco's, nembies, tuies..... they were a class of their own...a clean drunk....I don't know what else to say, just I wish I could have just one more!,,,(or 1000!)

this is actually something i am very interested in, but i gotta close this thread as it is not congruent with the new State of BDD.

anytime i find myself getting frustrated about never getting the chance to compare quaaludes and the good barbiturates with benzos, i just remind myself that none of it can beat the semi-sythetic itch. never mind the era of some weird GABA drugs when we are lucky enough to catch the tail end of pharmaceutical opiates. imagine the poor kids of the future, wondering what that infamous oxycodone was like.
