Psychosomatic withdrawal

Is it possible to imagine physical withdrawals? I've been taking 20mg to 80mg a night, usually by sniffing, for a month now. When I try to stop I feel awful, but it doesn't seem like I could have physical withdrawals, since I don't have much of a tolerance.

Opinions?

Absolutely. The intensity of withdrawals is wildly affected by psychological states and this is why so many users observe that over time, their withdrawals get worse even if they are using the same amount or less opioids less regularly.

You didn't say what opioid you're using, but 20-80mg a day of say oxycodone or hydrocodone could certainly produce (mild) physical withdrawals after a month of use. Especially if your average is closer to the latter number.

I usually take oxycodone, but I prefer hydromorphone (I'm assuming that's not hydrocodone, maybe similar? I've never heard of this variation). I don't know what the chemical difference is between the two, but for some reason, I prefer the hydromorphone high. Sorry for digressing.

I knew it couldn't be entirely in my head, since oxycodone is a hell of a drug.

^Hydrocodone is what's in Vicodin, Norco, Lortab, etc. and some areas outside of the US don't utilize this opioid analgesic.

Oxycodone is not nearly as sedating as hydromorphone and most find it to produce less itchiness.

Snorting 20 to 80mg of oxy a day over a period of time would absolutely cause physical withdrawal.

And taking that much hydromorphone a day would cause even worse withdrawals.
