Psychological Thrillers books.

Does anyone know any good psychological thriller books to read? I was thinking of buying 'The Shining' as a lot of people have given this book a good review. I haven't really read a full book before and would like a good one ton read on the train or something.

If you haven't read a lot before and want some quality psych thriller the Hannibal series is really good (Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Hannibal Rising). I read a lot of pretentious lit and still love this stuff. Also some Phillip K. Dick mindfucks, like A Scanner Darkly or Ubik. He wrote some of his novels in one sitting and it's weird that you can tell...

^^I really haven't read a lot before and this is a great help, when I finish "The Shining" I will order the ones you have just mentioned one by one.

I absolutely loved Scott Smith's A Simple Plan; the climax is a virtuoso one-two-three punch that I haven't experienced before or since (though I admit that I don't read *that* many psychological thrillers).
