“I think psychedelics play a major part in what we do, but having said that, I feel that if somebody's going to experiment with those things they really need to educate themselves about them. People just taking the chemicals and diving in without having any kind of preparation about what they're about to experience tend to have no frame of reference, so they're missing everything flying by and all these new perspectives. It's just a waste. They reach a little bit of spiritual enlightenment, but they end up going, 'Well, now I need that drug to get back there again.' The trick is to use the drugs once to get there, and maybe spend the next ten years trying to get back there without the drug.”

I agree with Senior Maynard. The more you wait in between the more meaningful the experience. I dont know about ten years though.
Just like Dona Maria Sabina said the abuse of the mushroom takes away from the spiritual qualities.
From experience I know exactly what they mean. After so much tripping within a small period of time you become desensitized and all meaning is lost, which can be very frightening and confusing. The psyches will not be shy at all letting you know that you are abusing them; very powerful sacraments that are not to be disrespected.

can you enlighten on what you mean by "desensitized and all meaning is lost, which can be very frightening and confusing."??

im very curious as i have only indulged in psychs once in my life

It's all about integration; if you cannot integrate that which you have come to understand as truth through psychedelic experience's, then that concept of truth only serves to remain in the psychedelic world.
