Psychedelics and PTSD?

Does anyone have any experience of an intense psychedelic experience causing their PTSD to get better? I'm wondering because I have what is either a severe phobia or PTSD (that's really debilitating) and I want to know how this has changed other people's lives. I haven't ever really broken through on any substance, and I've also never taken any classic psychedelics, so this really is just curiousity. Thanks. :)

I have mild PTSD stemming from a severe leg injury incurred during an accident a little over a year ago. While i'm acutely on psychedelics I don't seem to have any of the intrusive imagery or other symptoms common to my PTSD, however I still do have symptoms occasionally when i'm not on psychedelics.

Also, MAPS has funded some really great work treating PTSD with MDMA. Don't know that there's been any research on psychedelics & PTSD, but MAPS has also funded research regarding terminal anxiety in patients with life-threatening illness, which i suppose isn't all that dissimilar from PTSD, in some ways.

All this being said, I don't know that i'd recommend self-medicating as these treatments are experimental. When done by experienced researchers in a controlled setting they are quite effective, but doing it on your own may work, or it could exacerbate your condition.

I had a touch of PTSD or just simply ASD, never went to the doctors and had it evaluated.

But my stress disorder came from getting pulled over and getting arrested while fully loaded on LSD. After going through such stress i had fear of driving(thought there were undercovers following me every where i went. Every time i ended up at a festival i thought i was being followed around the area. Anxiety completely filled my life with horror.

After ingesting in a vey high dose of 4-ho-dmt (psilocybin), i seemed to put the stress disorder in the back of my head. Sense then ive ingested in 4-aco-dmt once as well and cut down my marijuana intake down to nothing. It seems that with every experience that i do it puts my stress furthur and furthur back behind me. Now it seems to be only a distant memory.

I have yet to ingest in LSD sence the experience but plan to at the up comming furthur show.

I havent ingested in marijuana in over a month now. And the use of marijuana had really aggravated my anxiety. But it seems to be lifting me as time passes and the negative memory becomes a distant memory.

The key to over comming anxiety is to have positive memorys closer to you then the negative ones. That way when you start looking at past times, there only positive. Hope this helped:)

I'm wondering because I know psychedelics have caused people to look at their lives from a completely new perspective, and that causes them to have the knowledge and the motivation to help themselves become a better them. Thanks for sharing your experience bigsky and major, does anyone else have any? I'd like to get a gnereal impression of how people feel differently on psychedelics and if they've had any major life changes relating to PTSD or phobias (clinical fears).
