psychedelic xanax?

I dont think that this is normal, but I get visuals on xanax.. I cant find any reports anywhere of this, but when I take xanx, things get a darker tint to them and I get the "dollhouse effect". With closed eyes I see faces, shapes, colors, and other visuals. My thought process goes so off into WTF that I usually snap back and say WTF was I just thinking, that made no sense. I always have the same type of dreams after xanax as well. These dreams are always very real, and are just everyday normal situations, but with a weird feeling to them. They always present me with an anxiety filled situation, then I have to solve it without freaking out.

The one time I was at a friends house and woke up at 8:30 am, only to fall back asleep. I instantly went to a dream where I was laying on the same exact couch I was really on, I was paralyzed and couldnt speak. I was screaming in my head at my friend to help me but I couldn't move at all. I remember in the corner of my eye I saw this toddler, yes a toddler, dancing in circles. I was like what the fuck is that?!? I thought it was all real because it was happening in the same time period, and place I was at. I finally broke free and woke up sweating. xanax is bizarre sometimes. Maybe Im just bizarre, but this substance has given me some weird experiences. I once had about 30 different dreams within an hour. Waking up after each one and then falling back asleep only to enter another.

I have been careful to not get addicted.. but the mental urges are there. I use it maybe once or twice a month. last night I used it and then today I had a weird episode at work where I got really shaky and got a headache. Im not sure if it was withdrawl, but it was enough to make me put that pill bottle in a safe place haha. Ive been throught the withdrawl shit.. and Im NEVER going back.
 
I've gotten mild visuals from ativan, but never from any other benzo (unless you want to consider the "Z" sedatives benzos).
 
sounds like you do way too much xanax or you are drug naive

most people will say doing xanax will kill a trip. i find xanax to be the opposite of psychedelic - it just tones everything down.
 
i have a strange thing with benzos also, cwouldnt call it psychadelic, but somethin about fire. cigarettes, weed anything on fire... looks so strange, and always seems like its burning differently... probably just fucked up honestly. always happens though.
 
Well GABAergics can produce visuals, I would call the hypnogogic rather than psychedelic... psychedelic is definitely not a correct term here, but I can understand from the association with visual effects.

Alcohol, GHB and benzo's can produce visuals for me but it's more like blurry spots, crossed-eyed vision and wobbly vagueness.

I'm not sure what you mean by the dollhouse effect (micropsia / macropsia?) and I am also not sure at all if this has enough reason to stay in PD.

Mind if I move it to OD?
 
Ativan (lorazepam) can definitely give you visuals without any other psychedelic effects. I have this record sleeve on my ceiling right above my bed, so I stare at it a lot when I'm chilling trying to fall asleep:

Quite often when I'm on Ativan, even a low dose like 1-2mg, the blotches of paint will start moving around the frame of the sleeve, the letters will grow and shrink, etc. Not unlike tryptamine visuals at all. This usually happens after I stare at the record for 4-5 seconds.

I get dramatic color enhancement and significant trails; at higher doses the walls breathe noticeably. I never got the "tryptamine" distortions you describe though. Next time I take ativan, I'll remember (on ativan lol) to stare at random objects and see what happens.

Hey there

What you experienced here is called sleep paralysis. I often experience it. It's not dangerous, although I know how frightening it can be. I suppose Xanax could have attributed to it but many people get it at least a few times in their life, regardless of drug use.

It's a bit late but I am gonna go and move this like previously said - to OD. There is really nothing actually psychedelic about this even if the side-effects remind you of psychedelics.
