Psychedelic use permanently ruined alcohol

As stated in the title, I have reason to believe that my use of psychedelics may have permanently ruined my ability to enjoy a drink. If I consume more than, say, 5 units of alcohol (2 pints of beer) the next morning I wake up tripping (feels like a low dose of acid, not enough to be full psychedelic but enough to notice, maybe 60ug).
Never a pleasant trip either. Visuals are often present. The effects are generally worse depending on how much I drink. Spirits are absolutely off limits as the next day is hellish. I used to be able to drink fairly solidly, and whilst I had hangovers, they were just normal hangovers, not tainted with uncomfortable psychedelia that includes extremely disturbed thought patterns/racing thoughts and abnormal body sensations; unbearable pressure in my head across my forehead that I can manipulate and shivers/muscle twitches all over my body.

Its as though my hangover is 'amplified' to the point where it is so unbearable that I have chosen simply not to drink now for a long time, but it is proving quite inconvenient when the majority of people I know use alcohol as their drug of choice.

I still use psychedelics fairly regularly and enjoy mostly wonderful trips on them. My main drug of choice is LSD, although this has recently been replaced with 25i-NBOMe. The negative effects began long before my first dose of 25i. I have tried taking an extended break (4+months) from psychedelics and the problem still occurs.

As for my day to day life, I eat a well balanced diet, and exercise several times per week.

Anyone else experienced similar or have any suggestions/solutions?

I have experienced visual effects from getting drunk days after after using LSD, it was within a week time and it fucked me up.

It was not permanent and i am fine now that i cant get any LSD>

Same thing happened to me. It was more of a gradual process so I'm not sure it's entirely correlated with my drug use, but now whenever I drink more than two units of alcohol, I'll get a terrible hangover about an hour later. Let's just say I don't really enjoy drinking anymore.

Take a break for a while, I found that after mass psy use my brain was not able to deal with stress as well. All goes back to normal within a month or so.

I was gonna suggest a break but he said he took one.

Maybe try a longer break?
shitty, I know. lol
These drugs cause powerful life changing events and experiences that can do all kinds of weird things. I thought I might be a prophet there for a short while. lol
Thankfully that went away. Took a few months.

I think "acid flashbacks" are a regular occurrence.
ever drink alcohol with acid? Maybe there's an association there now.
Some sort of cross reference?

Every time I do LSD I still want a cigarette and I quit smoking three years ago almost.
I think it's because I used to smoke cigarettes on LSD.

To be honest, if my psychedelic use made me unable to enjoy a drink I'd be a very happy person. I could do with an extra incentive not to drink alcohol considering the trouble it has caused me in my life.

^ Ditto Splitz.

I get that way sometimes, actually it feels kind of like I'm rolling while I'm drunk. But I thought this was going to be a thread of another subject: LSD ruined alcohol for me, but only because I was once coming up in a room full of drunks playing beer pong...competing.... and burping... and slurping.... and boasting....needless to say I bounced pretty quick.

I wonder if they're trying to rid the world of drug users again... I wonder who THEY are???

I smoke ciggarettes better on LSD, it's been a long time.

Sounds like you might have trouble metabolizing acetaldehyde. Like what disulfiram and calcium carbimide do (they're used clinically to discourage drinking by inhibiting the metabolization of acetaldehyde, and that results in the kind of effect you mention above, I mean).

When im really hungover i can see crazy visluals in darkness some are tracers from light sources and some are just random blotches that move around and form pictures its crazy and i only started to notice it after using psychedelics. Its not at all like im straight trippin tho no mindfuck.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Yes - in some ways I see this as a blessing, I dont really enjoy drinking that much but sometimes it is nice to be able to have a few beers whilst relaxing at the weekend and not have to worry about losing the next day entirely!

I will look deeper into the possibility of acetaldehyde metabolization difficulties! Hopefully there will be something I can take to help my body with this.

Worked the other way round for me. I've begun to love, appreciate the taste of good beer, good wine and good tobacco. I love having a crazy night of tripping ending with a cold beer at 7:30 AM.

peace, love.

Alcohol is ruined for you? IMO that's no real loss. Alcohol is shit. Although is it so bad that drinking alcohol makes you trip out now? That's a cheap, effective way to trip. :)

I can't enjoy alcohol anymore because psychedelics are just a thousand times better than alcohol in every regard, and alcohol is the cause of all the world problems.

:>

looking back im not sure if alcohol was that fantastic in the first place ...

sometimes can be good though. certainly a long history of consumption, through a variety of cultures. i've read that different alcohols from different fruits or plants can have different chemical makeups that change the effects a little

A couple of questions no-one else has asked. How often do you drink? You've taken a break from psychedelics but you didn't mention taking any form of a break from alcohol - I'd recommend the later if it's giving you problems.

Do you do anything to manage your hangovers? For me, I find drinking about 1/5-1/3 of the total amount of alcoholic drinks I drank in water during or after my drinking session (but prior to any hangover) means I pretty much never get any form of hangover, the only exceptions being when I haven't stuck to this rule and was dehydrated.

You should try things like this as if your hangovers are getting worse, stopping the hangovers from occurring in the first place is just as good, or rather, better. :)

The first and in a lot of ways the most profound revelation I got from LSD 30 years ago is that I am an asshole when i'm drunk, I have never enjoyed the effects of alcohol since and do not drink at all, I consider this a gift and am forever thankful for this change.

.

I've certainly had a bit of visual alteration during a hangover, but nothing at all like tripping & it also pre-dated my psychedelic career. Never really heard of psychedelics causing such things before. Honestly it sounds like what my girlfriend started experiencing shortly before she was diagnosed with a pre-diabetic insulin deficiency. That might be another thong to get checked out.
