Psychedelic mushrooms growing in Northern VA (Amanita muscaria)

Okay so i live in NOVA and this place is well known for being shroom free.. well mostly, its pretty hard to run by liberty caps or anything even in the right time of year/weather in the right places..
But anyways, as i was talking a hike through Claude Moore park as i noticed from the distance this red little button on the ground, excited i run over to it and realize its an amanita, well just a little baby.. being the dumbass i am i accidentally broke the stem while trying to get a better view of it, so i just picked it.. i wouldnt normally pick such a immature mushroom, id let it grow and maybe comeback after a few days.. but shit, anyways this is it..

What i noticed was it was growing under some small plants and in a pretty dry place.. im no mushroom expert bbut this seemed kinda odd to me..

Anyways, this gave me some clarity and now i know where to go shroom hunting more often :D

Be very careful picking Amanitas - they can vary widely in potency.

Oh also may i add.. I did in fact take advantage of this and i pealed off the red skin and heated it up, dried it then mixed it with a none psychoactive herb and smoked it, got me pretty stoned, like some good weed. more of a dissociation feeling if anything.
