Dear All,
You are invited to join soul therapist/author, Neal M. Goldsmith, Ph.D.* and international tantra teacher and founder of Galiana Meditation Retreat, Luba Evans**, for an evening of discussion (and an afternoon of deep soul loving work) growing from the release of Neal's ground-breaking book: Psychedelic Healing: The Promise of Entheogens for Psychotherapy and Spiritual Development. Psychedelic Hea...ling is about the power and the beauty of psychedelics as a clinical tool for healing the individual, and as a transformative influence on society.
The Ground of our Being is the true self, it is the original self that we were at birth, before our parents had at us. When we are not loved for ourselves, we punt to Plan B - Personality - a strategy devised by a two-year old. Personality resides within the safety of the powerful ego, at the interface with the world, far, far away from our original, core self.
Neal and Luba have identified a set of core soul issues and developed an afternoon of intimate, heart-opening exercises that reflect and elicit the core issues the self faces in unfolding - love, safety, the true self is not personality, transcendence, catharsis, acceptance, release, forgiveness, relationships with parents, partners, family.
On Saturday, through readings from the book and a series of exercises designed specifically to release the knots in your psyche, Neal and Luba will lead you on a journey of emotional discovery and reidentification with your true, original self, an organism of light and love and learning.
On Friday, we will discuss issues from Psychedelic Healing that preview - and go beyond - the themes of the Saturday Workshop:
1. Why are psychedelics so helpful in psychotherapy?
2. In exploring personal growth with psychedelics, is it ultimately necessary to deal with one's childhood "demons," or can they be transcended through blissful psychedelic experiences?
3. Lack of love/safety results in defensive highjacking of the ego function to create personality as acquired strategy to attain love. Personality is a strategy devised by an earlier, immature version of our adult self.
4. Neurosis is the natural, stepwise unfolding of human maturation. It’s not about pathology, but spiritual immaturity.
5. Psychology must again become the study of the soul: Psycheology.
6. Empathy and acceptance — love — for our parents and ourselves enables us to relax and release the knot in our psyche, to dis-identify with the defensive personality and re-identify with our original, core self — to finally complete our childhood.
7. The desire for change is a reflection of the problem, not of the solution.
8. Simply being is not the result of an active pursuit, but rather the natural result of releasing the self from the encumbrance or distraction of an immature personality strategy.
9. Transformative developmental change is possible through a stepwise, dualistic dance — a combination of transcendent and cathartic therapeutic approaches.
10. Implementing the Psycheology perspective includes developing a Mature Love Relationship
